Wilson's 'Reality Tunnels'

by David R. Weissbard from the Unitarian Universalist Church. (Link down now) Seriously! That is really great and hopeful btw! The article handles the movie Shine along with Reality Tunnels, as I haven't seen that movie, I'm just gonna post the general stuff here and you can check out the Shining part at the link.

Wilson's 'Reality Tunnels'
I made reference to "reality tunnels" in a sermon several years ago after I discovered Robert Anton Wilson's book, The New Inquisition. Some of you may recall the term "Sumbunall" he proposed as a corrective to what I termed our "illiberal liberalism." Rather than saying "All conservatives believe..." or "all popular music is..." or "all men are..." he suggests that we say "Some, but not all..."

Central to Wilson's understanding of the world is his belief that all of us construct realities with which we live - except that we assume that they are given - that they are "real" - rather than constructed. And so we make judgements about how the world works, and who other people are, and about who we are. The problem is that we live in what he calls "reality tunnels" which are focused in such a way as to exclude inputs and experiences that may challenge what we believe, that may help us see the errors in our limited or erroneous constructions of reality.

Wilson maintains that many people who claim to faithfully follow the scientific method do so unfaithfully - continually excluding evidence that does not fit within the parameters of their expectations.

Wilson says:
"We make facts by organizing appearances into reality-tunnels that suit our present needs, our problems-to-be-solved, our fears and fantasies, and our prejudices.

And just as the Fundamentalist Materialist classifies as "fact" that which fits its model, and dismisses as "mere appearance" that which does not fit, so, too, the Fundamentalist Thomist mechanically accepts that which fits the Thomist model... - and similar mechanisms perpetuate the Fundamentalist Samoan tiki-worship reality tunnel, and the Fundamentalist racist reality-tunnel, and the Fundamentalist male chauvinist reality-tunnel, and the Fundamentalist Ohio Presbyterian Republican reality-tunnel, and the Fundamentalist Iranian Islamic reality-tunnel..."
And we should add, the Fundamentalist Unitarian Universalist Liberal reality tunnel.

Our culture has been based on the belief that the basic reality tunnel created by White European males over the past 300 years is the only "real" way to look at the world - what could Asians, Africans, women, Native Americans, possibly have to offer us? Including them in a course of study wastes time and dilutes our knowledge. "Our culture succeeded and theirs failed! What could we gain from them?"

Aho's View
I am fascinated by a book that Jim Spelman called to my attention: This Thing of Darkness : A Sociology of the Enemy by James Aho. Listen to Aho's orientation to reality:
"...even a moment's reflection reveals that what I see as trash some other person might well see as food, what I experience as pleasure someone else may see as pain, what I call a duty may in reality be a choice; and thus the social institutions we commonly hold to be inexorable, necessary and unavoidable are in fact our own collective creations, hence not inevitable at all. In other words, human beings reside in worlds they themselves have fashioned. Our worlds are cultural "art-facts," not natural affairs. However we tend to forget this truth, attributing responsibility for our world to some other thing, event or Person independent of us: our genes, Fate, the Will of God, "the way I was raised," and so forth."
What Aho is talking about, in other words, is the reality tunnels we create and live in.

I thought for a while Aho was going to be poignantly relevant today because one of the examples he uses of our creation of enemies is Saddam Hussein. Consider this:
"As difficult it is for us to hear them, Iraqi ravings about Western "imperialism," American "duplicity," and the "violations" of Muslim women and sanctuaries are in a pragmatic sense probably as realistic to Iraqis as is the following creed expressed so baldly by American officials and repeated like cant by the American public: Saddam is the "greatest peril" today to freedom, security, and the American way of life, a "ruthless tyrant" who has committed "outrageous acts of genocidal barbarism" that "surpass" even those of Hitler in their brutality."
That, friends, is a propaganda reality tunnel which is being used on us to unite us against a common foe, to distract us from our own problems. If you think about it outside of the popular reality tunnel, Saddam is right in saying that the American led sanctions are killing his people and there is no end to them in sight. To acknowledge this is not to say that Saddam is a "good guy," but as I suggested last year, we created him, we armed him, we backed him when he served our purposes. If you want to see reality tunnels, look at the headline of this morning's paper.

Levenson and 'Understanding'
Beyond those grand socially created reality tunnels are the individual ones we create to make sense of our own lives. Every individual has individual reality tunnels that are unique from every one else's. They are constructed from our own experiences.

One of the books I have found most influential on my thought over the years is one recommended to me by a therapist 25 years ago called The Fallacy of Understanding. In it, Edgar Levenson, with a perspective not unlike Wilson and Aho, maintains that we can never really understand another person - we try to fit their experience into our perception of what is real, but it is a Procrustean bed - we chop off parts that don't fit our perceptions and experiences. To say to someone else, "I understand you" is really a lie or a delusion. We can know what we know only in terms of our own experience and that is never universal.

What Wilson and Aho and Levenson are stressing, is something that I consider a central theme of my ministry, namely: seeking to make us more aware of the limits of our understanding, the limits imposed by our reality tunnels, the awareness that what we think we see objectively is always subjective at its core. It is only when we can see the greater truth beyond our limited versions of it, that we can be open to wisdom and relationship.

Political Reality Tunnels
Monday morning I sat in front of my TV watching on C-Span the testimony of constitutional scholars - liberal and conservative, debating the merits of impeachment of President Clinton. Their conclusions had so little in common that it was easy to label those with whom I disagreed as ideologues. It was obvious that they were trapped by a reality tunnel that muddled their minds. The problem was that some of what they said made sense. They were not fools - none of them. Their reality tunnels were no more confining than were the reality tunnels of those with whom I found myself agreeing. The difference was that I shared the reality tunnel of some and not of others. Where was the middle ground? None of the Representatives appeared able to go beyond their own partisan perspectives, any more than did the speakers. They did not disagree on facts, only on their interpretation, but what a gap, what a conflict that left. It was easier to divide them into good and bad than to wrestle with the conflict.

Personal Reality Tunnels
In a congregation I previously served, there was a woman whom I believe I have mentioned before. She had nine children. There was one who was giving her trouble and she told me she took him to twenty-some child psychiatrists until she found one who was willing to tell her what she wanted to hear - that her kid was mentally ill. That was before I got there.

After I became minister, there was another problem. She had an affair with another member of the church and decided that her husband no longer met her needs. She kicked him out of the house, and he was willing to go. Her affair fell through and she was alone. Her ex-husband ended up moving in with a divorced woman in the church. The ex-wife was furious. According to her reality tunnel, the divorcee, who had been a friend of hers, was betraying her, as was her ex-husband. He had no right to live with someone else and be happy while she was alone. She was indignant and wanted me to tell him how wrong he was. Her reality tunnel told her that it was not fair that she was lonely and he was not. The "victim" had become the perpetrator. I did not share her tunnel, even though I believed she was sincere in her belief. I declined to play the role in which she sought to cast me. She left the church because people were too accepting of what showed up in her reality tunnel as her husband's immorality.

Closer to Home
One of the things that Aho said particularly rang a bell for me personally. "My violation of you grows from my yearning to rectify the wrong I sense you have done me. Violence emerges from my quest for good and my experience of you as the opponent of good."

There are some good people whose reality tunnels see me as the "opponent of good" for this church. I continue to be cast by some as "the enemy," and I get mail and receive reports of rumors about how I am destroying this church. Everything I say and do is subject to interpretation by some people in the worst possible light in order to maintain their reality tunnel. It is also true that there are those who have constructed equally inaccurate reality tunnels in which my screw-ups are interpreted in the best possible light. It is not easy to live as either an enemy or a hero when you know neither shoe fits. And it takes considerable effort not to reciprocate by defining those who vilify me, as evil enemies.

art. 1: What is ascension? Is it Real? If So, Am I Gonna Make It?
By David Wilcock

I don't really like the full article (all the images link to the 2nd article I link later on), I don't support psychic readings (you can find out what you need to by meditating too) at ridiculous prices but I like David Wilcock's work (and definitely respect his business ethics compared to others) and wanted to share this piece from it:

In the Law of One series (one of the most famous channeling series), this forthcoming Ascension event is said to propel the earth into a state that will be considered one hundred times more harmonious than life on Earth is at present, which would be a definite improvement… a world where, as the Master Jesus once said, “As I do these things, so shall ye do them, and greater things…” (Holy Bible, John 14:12)

The next question is this: Do we just sit back and wait for the “cosmic magic carpet ride,” or does personal ambition and participation have something to do with what we will experience as this interplanetary evolution completes itself?

The Law of One series and many other sources, including my own, tell us that we DO have to prepare for this event. Though some might groan as if hearing a bad punchline, the secret is that “it’s all about spiritual growth in the end.” In order to “make the Ascension”, we have to achieve an above 50-percent motivation towards “service to others,” (I prefer calling it Service to All, which I find has a much better ring to it) or the positive path, as opposed to “service to self,” or the negative path.

Providing that we accept the validity of the Law of One information, we are then led to a crucial question: What IS Service to Others, exactly? How does one practice it to the best of one’s own ability, especially if you are trying to do more than just meet the minimum requirements?

At times, the Service to Others path is said to be the path of unity, seeing all others as the self, whereas the Service to Self path is said to be the path of separation, seeing the self as above all others. Here is the exact quote that emerged in the Law of One series when the questioner asked Ra for more detail as to the best way to follow the service to others path:

The best way to be of service to others is the constant attempt to seek to share the love of the Creator as it is known to the inner self.

This involves self-knowledge and the ability to open the self to the other-self without hesitation. This involves, shall we say, radiating that which is the essence or the heart of the mind/body/spirit complex.

Speaking to the intention of your question, the best way for each seeker in third density to be of service to others is unique to that mind/body/spirit complex.

This means that the mind/body/spirit complex must then seek within itself the intelligence of its own discernment as to the way it may best serve other-selves.

This will be different for each. There is no best. There is no generalization. Nothing is known.

The above description has often been criticized for its vagueness. “OK, so I need to share love, but there is no best way to do it? Then what the heck do I do, and how do I do it?” (As Robert Anton Wilson would probably laugh: "Please, tell me what to do master!" :p) Naturally, it seems obvious that we would want to know what we should be doing to be ready for this change, in order that we may stay with the Earth as it moves into the “fourth density.” The words of Ra, as expressed above, essentially say that one pursues self-acceptance and integration on the inside first and foremost, and then “radiates that realization of Oneness with the Creator” to others. No real generalizations can be made…

We do want the entity to be aware of the degree to which this fluidity of thought affects all other areas of inquiry. The fluidity of thought comes about through the meditative peace that is gained inside. The entity has indicated that there was a bout of alcoholism surrounding your year 2000, as time is measured. This, of course, is a statement of the sense of defiance and rebellion against the uptight and stuffy, constricted atmosphere that society has presented in many forms.

The entity is one who was content with the behaviors that were predefined by the conservative Judeo-Christian, Protestant mindset. Thus, one was to be the hive worker and perform a series of maneuvers along a predefined set of criteria.

The system of rules itself is worshiped as God, though on the subconscious plane.

It is not truly the thirst for the One Infinite Creator that sustains entities who follow such paths, but rather the thirst for structure, the thirst for a very clear definition of right and wrong, seen and unseen, known and unknown, good and evil, so as to remove the opportunity for internal seeking, deliberation and analysis.

If one has a rather immature concept of the universal cosmology which includes such things as implicit forgiveness once one is saved by the Blood of the Lamb, so to speak, then there is not the need to pulverize the questions that have required such pulverization. Rather, they can remain as rocks that tumble about in the mind, and can temporarily be sealed over with platitudes that state that as long as one continues to pay tithes to the church or to otherwise repent for one’s sins, as they have been called, then a balance of sorts is created.

The relative balance/imbalance of one’s personal vibrations is never questioned in such a format, but only the extent to which the predefined set of criteria are then being met.

May we state a very important point, which is that the extent to which an entity is harvestable for fourth density has everything to do with making a choice? This, by its very nature, implies that one must break away from consensus thinking in order to make sufficient choices to be harvestable.

To put it more bluntly, an entity cannot simply be content with a given system of spiritual teaching, follow that system without ever questioning it, and truly be fourth density harvestable, even if that system of thought is one in which service to others is defined as being an essential cornerstone of belief.

May we state quite clearly that true Service to Others is that which comes about through internal deliberation and analysis.

True Service to Others does not mean that you [are required to] go to a soup kitchen and begin spooning out that which is sought after by those who are homeless. True Service to Others does not mean joining the Peace Corps and moving off to some third-world country that is in desperate need of assistance, or otherwise giving of oneself in this externalized form.

Granted, these are expressions of service to others in a certain capacity, but when we state the term Service to Others, we are attempting to use three words to define something which is altogether more nebulous.

The true essence of Service To Others cannot be contained within the overt semantic description that the words provide. It is, rather, a statement of a status of being that is arrived at once one has achieved some degree of unveiling of the conscious motivations that underlie the self.

The extent to which these motivations become conscious is the extent to which the soul has evolved. So when we speak of conscious motivations, we speak of the more complete form of consciousness, which does include that which your peoples would normally define as sub-conscious.

To become conscious of that which motivates the self is to become aware of the choices that have been made [in life], and of the extent to which most entities have declared martial law over their own free will in their minds. So when we state Service to Others as being the desirable path, that path has greater complexity than simply attending church or appeasing those around you and making them happy.

The Service to Others path is a path of integration of self, and through that integration of self, becoming aware to some degree that there is no separation between self and others. This is decidedly different than one only looking as far as to see it as being a function of volunteering one’s time in such things as a soup kitchen or otherwise.

Therefore, this path is, in one sense, rather difficult to define, and any attempt to use one concept or one set of words is flawed by its very nature. The reason why we decided upon the term Service to Others is to hone in on that which approaches the greatest degree of truth as a system of meditation for an awakening soul.

art 2. Law of One and 2012: The Facts!
Well the facts based on the Law of One readings! But still very interesting stuff.

...So, if this core photon vibration INCREASES by an entire density level, then ALL atomic particles must make a density change as well- a TOTAL change in the physics of matter and energy. Elsewhere as this post goes on, you'll see that this core shift completes when? 2012.

This strongly implies that time as we know it has DRAMATICALLY sped up between second and third-density. We already know that in third-density the average animal's life is probably 9 years at best. Ra secretly has slipped in the fact that time started going at least 100 times faster in 3D than it was in 2D! This means that the actual RATE at which a creature lives out its life increased by 100 times. This is consistent with other reports I've seen of the variability of time. Therefore, such a speeding-up should happen again when we go into 4D — but if our time is going faster now than it was before, the time period should be a lot less than 1350 years.

The Cayce Readings said that the mega-Earth Changes were more of a metaphor of upheaval in people's lives — NOT an event that people would literally go through. And my own readings, for what it's worth, have repeatedly said that (paraphrased): "You are already experiencing the big earth changes that the ancient prophecies spoke about. If you're waiting for something even bigger to happen, you've missed the point."

Questioner: Would the coming changes as we progress into fourth-density such as changes in the physical third-density planet due to the heating effect and changes such as the ability of people to perform what we term paranormal activities act as catalyst to create a greater seeking?
Ra: I am Ra. This is partially correct. The paranormal events occurring are not designed to increase seeking but are manifestations of those whose vibratory configuration enables [them] to contact the gateway to intelligent infinity…

The correct portion of your statements is the greater opportunity for service due to the many changes which will offer many challenges, difficulties, and seeming distresses within your illusion to many who then will seek to understand, if we may use this misnomer, the reason for the malfunctioning of the physical rhythms of their planet.

Ra: Moreover, there exists probability/possibility vortices which spiral towards your bellicose actions. Many of these vortices are not of the nuclear war but of the less annihilatory but more lengthy so-called “conventional” war. This situation, if formed in your illusion, would offer many opportunities for seeking and for service.

Questioner: How would conventional warfare offer the opportunities for seeking and service?

Ra: I am Ra. The possibility/probabilities exist for situations in which great portions of your continent and the globe in general might be involved in the type of warfare which you might liken to guerrilla warfare.

Ra: The ideal of freedom from the so-called invading force of either the controlled fascism or the equally controlled social common ownership of all things would stimulate great quantities of contemplation upon the great polarization implicit in the contrast between freedom and control.

I think it's easy to see that the 4D shift is an energetic process… not a slow, labored trip through earth-change hell. The earth changes are the CATALYST that stimulates people to grow inside, but the 2012 window is a SPONTANEOUS shift… not something that you fight your way through à la Mad Max.

All are harvested regardless of their progress, for during that time the planet itself has moved through the useful part of that dimension and begins to cease being useful for the lower levels of vibration within that density. That means that EVERYONE is an "Ascendee." The question is WHERE YOU GO once you pop through the worldwide "quantum leap." Do you hang out in the astral planes for 100-150 years and holographically recreate what you already had, or do you start climbing the staircase of Ascension? At that point you have a choice.

DW: Again, "all are harvested REGARDLESS OF PROGRESS" when the Earth moves out of 3D vibrations at the end of the cycle. A discontinuous event. Ra's answer is VERY IMPORTANT, because once we know WHEN the planet "has moved through the useful part" of the third "dimension", then we also know when "all are harvested regardless of progress" Keep reading Session 6 to find out how close we are to moving through the "useful part" of 3D:

Questioner: What is the position of this planet with respect to the progression of cycles at this time?

Ra: I am Ra. This sphere is at this time in fourth-dimension vibration. Its material is quite confused due to the society memory complexes embedded in its consciousness. It has not made an easy transition to the vibrations which beckon. Therefore, it will be fetched with some inconvenience.

Questioner: Is this inconvenience imminent within a few years?
Ra: I am Ra. This inconvenience, or disharmonious vibratory complex, has begun several of your years in the past. It shall continue unabated for a period of approximately three oh — thirty — of your years. [1981+30= 2011]
Questioner: After this period of thirty years I am assuming that this will be a fourth-density planet. Is this correct?
Ra: I am Ra. This is so.
Questioner: Is it possible to estimate what percent of the present population will inhabit the fourth-density planet?
Ra: The harvesting is not yet, thus, estimation is meaningless.

So is this a gradual shift, or does something distinct happen at some point — a discrete (i.e. separate) change — the so-called "quantum leap"? Let's keep reading right along: Ra: However, the nature of quanta is such that the movement over the boundary is that of discrete placement of vibratory level.
DISCRETE PLACEMENT. Discrete means "separate and distinct." A quantum leap. They also say that there is a "boundary" that we move over. When is the boundary? 2011-2013.

David also mentioned that
1 dimensional life, minerals was red (root chakra, survival)
2nd dimensional life, microbes, plants, insects and animals, orange (sacral chakra, reproduction & emotion)
3rd dimensional life, humans, yellow (solar plexus chakra, power)
So this reality, was about POWER. [additional to the Spiral Dynamics model stages of StriveDrive (orange) and Truthforce (blue) which will have to evolve to Humanbond (green as well)]. Well that sure explains a lot, kinda even puts the illuminati in a whole other light, wtf :p. I don't see 'em evolving along though as there's a total lack of the next phase:
4th dimensional life, whatever, green (hearth chakra, love).

System of a Down: Prison Song (War on Drugs)

System of a Down: Prison Song (War on Drugs)

What the Fundamentalist Fears

What the Fundamentalist Fears by Matthew Webb

There are many today who consider any criticism of society, religion or government to be “negative”, regardless of what these institutions do, or have become. Many want to “believe” in an effort to provide some external stability to their own inner uncertainty. So convinced are they about the sanctity of common beliefs, that rational discussion about society is made nearly impossible. In such a state, an individual’s mental processes have become so illogical that facts no longer matter. This is a measure of extreme self defense. It is very difficult therefore, for such minds to conceive of the idea that the world is not as it has been presented to them. For this reason alone do they see any call for change as “negative”, even while criticisms are obviously well deserved. Logic, fact, clear reasoning, debate and careful observation are not of interest to, “those who keep the faith” be that faith religious, social or political.

The criticism of government, social and religious ills is by no means negative, so long as it is based upon fact. Fact is neither positive or negative…it simply IS. In other words, that which is based on fact is simply true, making the question of who likes the truth or not, completely irrelevant. When a legislative body becomes corrupted by greed, (such as the current U.S. government) it merits rightful criticism, for it no longer represents the people. When society is no longer sustainable or humane, (as is the case with our current consumeristic marketplace) then it deserves to be called a destroyer, and consciously changed at its foundation. When religion becomes the spiritually hollow repetition of phrases and methods, and a political power base devoid of the original INTENT of its founder, (as we see everywhere today) it then merits being denounced. The facts which support such conclusions are everywhere for us to see, and it doesn’t matter in the slightest what we feel about them. They ARE.

For many people in the modern world, there is no practical difference between what they want to believe, and what really is. This social attitude is very common. It assumes that facts are far less relevant than the emotional needs of any individual. In essence then, the “my feelings first” philosophy is selfishness by another name. For selfishness at its root, is nothing more than the, “me first above all else” mindset, one that does not concern itself with a careful analysis of real world events. It cares only for what has been taught to be comfortable or unquestionable. This curious state of mind is common in the extremes of fundamentalism and patriotism. In both cases, the individual or organization so conditioned, is bent upon one simple goal…and that is keeping things as they are. It is readily apparent that those who call rightful criticism of government, “unpatriotic”, are also those who will very rarely engage in serious debate, or rationally discuss facts. These are considered too challenging to cherished beliefs, and rational debate is therefore something that cannot be afforded. The same is true of the materialist or the moralist, who considers established social doctrine far more important than the real improvement of the human condition. This is also why all the great Teachers and spiritual Masters throughout the ages were very often considered heretics and rebels, due to their insistence on the truth, regardless of prevailing social views.

The mindset that wants to keep things as they are is born of fear. Change is feared as it implies old ways were not as good as others claimed, or else there would be no need of it. Since modern society is anything but perfect, it is certainly not difficult to see where it could be changed for the better. Never the less, the vast majority still feel they must somehow defend the social norms of our day, regardless of the statistics of greater stress, mental illness, international discord and emotional instability that is seen clearly permeating every facet of daily life. But TV distractions, alcohol, cigarettes and prozac aside, these problems are not going to magically disappear if we ignore them long enough. The only way they can be solved both individually and internationally, is if people gain the willingness to face the often unpleasant truth, and actually get stronger because of it.

The main motive of those who wish to maintain government or religion in their current forms, (no matter how destructive these become) is that of preserving self image. So invested are they in the status quo, that “patriots” and “moralists” have actually projected their whole idea of self onto these institutions. One might even go so far as to say that they ARE these institutions, on the level of personal ego. Thus, any criticism of the government, society or religion to which the fundamentalist is wholly identified, is viewed as A DEEP PERSONAL THREAT that must be removed one way or another. Usually if a challenging view cannot be logically discredited, then there will always be those who try to discredit the speaker of change. If this cannot be done then the whole issue posed, (such as impending war with Iraq) will go ignored altogether.. An immediately defensive posture is assumed by the fundamentalist around those who ask pertinent questions A mind of this type imagines that by following established social rules and laws to the letter, and by intensely investing their outward lives in what is most accepted, that they have secured for themselves a place of social honor and acceptance. [To question the society of which the obedient citizen is a part, is to them a questioning of the soundness of their judgment] But honor is not found in acceptance, any more than greed is justified simply because the majority believe it to be a desirable trait.. Honor is found in upholding the truth regardless of what anyone else believes. This is a major lesson that the spiritual practitioner invariably learns along their path, sooner or later.

The fundamentalist patriot, materialist or moralist will take extra care to lash out at those who seek change or improvement of any kind. They will brand those who ask questions or pose alternative ways as, “dangerous to society”, and as “traitors” to righteousness or government. But the real fact of the matter is, change can always be for the better, especially when it is based upon the honest truth. Truth is only dangerous to those who fear change, (and have something to lose from it) not to the welfare of humanity.

What the pseudo-patriot or moralist does not understand, is that truth does not bend for the sake of personal preference, regardless of how cherished given beliefs might be. The truth is composed of facts, and the facts can be ascertained. When facts are known it is then that the inquiring and rational mind devotes itself to honest debate, and the testing of conclusions based upon fact. In this sense, honesty lends itself to the scientific method, which methodically investigates any question to get at its bottom line.

The honest mind is not interested in what the majority believes, because they are well aware that modern humanity has a tendency to believe what it wants, rather than what the facts loudly portray. Thus we have such phrases as, “my truth and your truth” or, “truth is something that has different, [subjective] interpretations”. Such thinking is not the basis for reality however, no matter how comforting it can be to those who do not wish to recognize the facts at hand. When a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, it STILL MAKES A SOUND. Truth does not need our permission to function, it never has, and it never will.

All things of merit are based on truth. All things of de-merit are based on lies and are unnecessarily destructive. By its very nature, falsehood destroys real progress and human evolution. When we consider the universality behind the words of spiritual Masters, the message found in Nature, or such documents as the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, we find a common thread of truth which is exactly what makes them valuable to us all. We cannot afford to deny this universality of truth, which is for the benefit of all beings. By the same token we cannot deny the world destroying effects of embracing a false society, religion or government in our daily lives. Wisdom tells us that is just as important to realize what NOT TO DO, as it is to discover right action. Television content in the modern world for instance, requires serious and focused discernment. Since most of it is decidedly false, non-sensical and unproductive, it is important to discern what not to engage the mind in. The same may be said of various magazines, news stories, advertisements and not-so-subtle propaganda.

As true patriots, spiritualists and revolutionaries, it is necessary to question everything that is presented in the daily world as to its truthfulness, and proceed to live accordingly. THIS is the meaning of righteousness and patriotic duty. Our duty therefore, is not in the keeping things as they are, nor as they are said to be, but to see things in their truthful light without bending to personal or social whims. Our objectivity toward the honest truth is what will make us great. Our subjectivity toward reality, and the desire to fabricate whatever we wish out of truth, shall destroy us all. Belief in falsehood is madness. Whether or not such madness is a collective condition is irrelevant, since the fact of more people believing or desiring something, does not make that thing truthful.

Facts are the basis of reality, not sales imagery such as what we see on television ads. It is the truly evolved human who recognizes this, and who disciplines their mind to accept only truth, regardless of how initially painful this may prove to be. This is the prerogative of the Master, the Seer and the Revolutionary. Only They are qualified to lead humanity out of its current darkness of embracing the false, into the light of careful reasoning and honest evaluation.

Upon truth alone can we survive and excel as a species, on this evolving planet.

Eckhart Tolle through Dogmatic Eyes

Proleptic Life (Prolepsis = anticipating and answering objections in advance :p) has a few unintentionally hilarious blogposts up that are a perfect illustration of confirmation bias: noticing and assigning significance to observations that confirm our prior beliefs, while filtering out or rationalizing away observations that do not fit with what we believe.
This pic illustrates it well, we live in our own little world (which was created by mostly other people through the silly beliefs we take over) and some of us take our Belief System (BS) way too seriously and have gotten out of touch with reality.

Check out the first page, there are at least seven freaking posts which can be summarized as: Christian rejects all writings of Eckhart Tolle through reading his books with a Bible Filter. I like Eckhart Tolle's teachings, as any teacher he's not for everyone though the criticism he's getting here is not really criticism at all. This guy probably posted this stuff because he had to re-affirm his fundamentalist Christian BS which got challenged. You can see the comments of some very relieved Christians who now again, thank God, don't have to take responsibility for their own lives, forget about their own divinity - how arrogant and silly to even fathom that! - and just go back to accepting Jesus and waiting for him to come back and fix everything! Who said mind control wasn't easy?
"What we hear from a source we accept as authoritative is given far more weight than the same statements if heard from what is to us at the time a less credible source. What we see, hear, or experience with intensity has added weight. And what we hear repetitively from authoritative sources has even more weight." - Maxwell Malts, The New Psycho-Cybernetics
So no worries, the sheep straying from the flock can always return upon contact with any kind of authority figure like say, a fellow fundamentalist Christian (who has more weight than Eckhart Tolle, who is not a fundamentalist Christian).

Never underestimate the rigidity of belief systems. It's really amazing, I mean the world must seem filled with hell-bound idiots to fundamentalists, all the folks who are all unable to pick out the right ancient symbolist book full of contradictions with which to filter the world and thus are going to hell.

I prefer to look at a world filled with people taking their Belief System too seriously, through Model Agnosticism, the only model I know without dogmas. I can only hope through time that people stop taking any kind of nonsense for truth wether it be materialist, religious or just plain out there fundamentalism by learning about belief systems and how they filter your reality. If you have not experienced it, how can it be true? Even if you have experienced it, how can you be certain your interpretation of it is correct? Etc. If you know any other interesting models like Model Agnosticism let me know!
"The agnostic principle refuses total belief or total denial and regards models as tools to be used only and always where appropriate and replaced (by other models) only and always where not appropriate. It does not regard any models, or any class of models, as more “profound” than any other models, or any class of models but asks only how a model serves, or fails to serve, those who use it." Robert Anton Wilson

'I do not believe anything.' This remark was made, in these very words, by John Gribbin, physics editor of New Scientist magazine, in a BBC-TV debate with Malcolm Muggeridge, and it provoked incredulity on the part of most viewers.
It seems to be a hangover of the medieval Catholic era that causes most people, even the educated, to think that everybody must "believe" something or other, that if one is not a theist, one must be a dogmatic atheist, and if one does not think Capitalism is perfect, one must believe fervently in Socialism, and if one does not have blind faith in X, one must alternatively have blind faith in not-X or the reverse of X. My own opinion is that belief is the death of intelligence. As soon as one believes a doctrine of any sort, or assumes certitude, one stops thinking about that aspect of existence." Robert Anton Wilson

Language of DNA

Interesting article by Toni Elizabeth Sar'h

When our perspective of reality is that of the holographic connection to the multi-dimensions and beyond, we will begin to experience an awareness that is outside of manifestation in any form and expression. Every coincidence will become a co – incident (experiencing together). Intimacy will become in-to-me-see and all of the other play with words and language that allows us to see each other. At that moment, the yearning in the DNA will cease and the YOU-ning that IS the Oneness will be the only experience.

Practices that allow for the interpretation of day-to-day expression as one of union, joy, appreciation, love and gratitude bring about this coherent waveform within the bodies (spiritual, mental, emotional and physical). This brings a sense of peace and greater health no matter what one's genealogy. Focusing upon and deriving pleasure from these practices creates the non-local paradigm within which we are invited to function. When truly living within this new framework of perception, our attention upon our intention of Oneness is our only focus. We can then experience our yearning as fulfillment without lack or loss. We then acknowledge that our yearning has awakened within us the knowledge that we are truly home.

John C. Lilly Quotes

John C. Lilly was an American physician, psychoanalyst and writer. He was a pioneer researcher into the nature of consciousness using as his principal tools the isolation tank, dolphin communication and psychedelic drugs, sometimes in combination. He was a prominent member of the Californian counterculture of scientists, mystics and thinkers that arose in the late 1960s and early 70s. Albert Hofmann, Gregory Bateson, Ram Dass, Timothy Leary, Werner Erhard, and Richard Feynman were all frequent visitors to his home.

"In the province of the mind, what is believed to be true is true, or becomes true within certain limits to be learned by experience and experiment. These limits are further beliefs to be transcended. In the province of the mind. There are no limits."

"In the province of connected minds, what the network believes to be true, either is true or becomes true within certain limits to be found experientially and experimentally. These limits are further beliefs to be transcended. In the network's mind there are no limits."

"Our only security is our ability to change."

"Well, when I started going out on the universe with LSD in the tank, I'd come to a certain group of entities and I'd say, 'Are you God?' And they'd say, 'Well, we say that to some people but God is way up there somewhere with the angels.' And it turned out no matter how big they were, God is bigger. So finally I got to the Starmaker. But as Olaf Stapledon says in his book, it's impossible to describe the Starmaker in human terms. He was well aware of the bullshit of language.

I call God ECCO now. The Earth Coincidence Control Office. It's much more satisfying to call it that. A lot of people accept this and they don't know that they're just talking about God. I finally found a God that was big enough. As the astronomer said to the Minister, 'My God's astronomical.' The Minister said, 'How can you relate to something so big?' The astronomer said, 'Well, that isn't the problem, your God's too small!'"

Funny how our western culture likes to emphasize EXTREMES when balance is the key to a good soul, ain't it?

Herman Hesse's Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf is the tenth novel by Hermann Hesse, combining autobiographical and fantastic elements, the book in large part reflects a profound crisis in Hesse's spiritual world in the 1920s.

Harry Haller is a sad and lonely figure, a reclusive intellectual for whom life holds no joy. A steppenwolf, named after the lonesome wolf of the steppes, or coyote. He struggles to reconcile the wild primeval wolf and the rational man within himself without surrendering to the bourgeois values he despises. His life changes dramatically when he meerts a woman who is his opposite, the carefree and elusive Hermine. The tale of the Steppenwolf culminates in the surreal Magic Theater—for mad men only.

The symbol of the Steppenwolf itself can be traced to Nietzsche's "differentiated loner", whom he also termed a "beast" and a "genius". Steppenwolf is Hesse's best-known and most autobiographical work. With its blend of Eastern mysticism and Western culture, it is one of literature’s most poetic evocations of the soul's journey to liberation. Originally published in English in 1929, the novel's wisdom continues to speak to our souls and marks it as a classic of modern literature.

"I sped through heaven and saw god at work. I suffered holy pains. I dropped all my defences and was afraid of nothing in the world. I accepted all things and to all things I gave up my heart."

"Eternity is a mere moment, just long enough for a joke."

I tried to open the door, but the heavy old latch would not stir. The display too was over. It had suddenly ceased, sadly convinced of its uselessness. I took a few steps back, landing deep into the mud, but no more letters came. The display was over. For a long time I stood waiting in the mud, but in vain. Then, when I had given up and gone back to the alley, a few colored letters were dropped here and there, reflected on the asphalt in front of me. I read: FOR MADMEN ONLY!

"Haller’s sickness of soul, as I now know, is not the eccentricity of a single individual, but the sickness of the times themselves, the neurosis of that generation to which Haller belongs, a sickness, it seems, that by no means attacks the weak and worthless only but rather those who are strongest in spirit and richest in gifts."

"The sacred sense of beyond, of timelessness, of a world which had an eternal value and the substance of which was divine had been given back to me today by this friend of mine who taught me dancing."

Alan Moore Quotes

Alan Moore is an English writer most famous for his influential work in comics, including the acclaimed graphic novels Watchmen, V for Vendetta and From Hell. (I really like Promethea too)

"There are people. There are stories. The people think they shape the stories, but the reverse is often closer to the truth." Swamp Thing

"We're all puppets, Laurie. I'm just a puppet who can see the strings." Dr. Manhattan, Watchmen #9

"In fact, let us not mince words… the management is terrible! We’ve had a string of embezzlers, frauds, liars, and lunatics making a string of catastrophic decisions. This is plain fact. But who elected them? It was you! You who appointed these people! You who gave them the power to make decisions for you! While I’ll admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making the same lethal errors century after century seems to me to be nothing short of deliberate. You have encouraged these malicious incompetents, who have made your working life a shambles. You have accepted without question their senseless orders. You have allowed them to fill your workplace with dangerous and unproven machines. All you had to say was “No.” You have no spine. You have no pride. You are no longer an asset to the company." V for Vendetta

"Did you think to kill me? There's no flesh and blood within this cloak to kill. There is only an idea. Ideas are bulletproof." V for Vendetta

"Truth is a well-known pathological liar. It invariably turns out to be Fiction wearing a fancy frock.. Self-proclaimed Fiction, on the other hand, is entirely honest. You can tell this, because it comes right out and says, "I'm a Liar," right there on the dust jacket."

"Consciousness is unquantifiable, a ghost in the machine, barely considered real at all, though in a sense this flickering mosaic of awareness is the only true reality that we can ever know."

"The entire universe — for one thing — only exists in your perceptions. That's all you're gonna see of it. To all practical intents and purposes this is purely some kind of lightshow that's being put on in the kind of neurons in our brain. The whole of reality."

"Ancient cultures did not worship idols. Their god-statues represented ideal states which, when meditated constantly upon, one might aspire to. Science proves there never was a mermaid, blue-skinned Krishna or a virgin birth in physical reality. Yet thought is real, and the domain of thought is the one place where gods inarguably exist, wielding tremendous power. If Aphrodite were a myth and Love only a concept, then would that negate the crimes and kindnesses and songs done in Love's name? If Christ were only ever fiction, a divine Idea, would this invalidate the social change inspired by that idea, make holy wars less terrible, or human betterment less real, less sacred?"

"To some degree Satanism is purely a kind of disease of Christianity. You've got to really be Christian to believe in Satan."

"Because our entire universe is made up of consciousness, we never really experience the universe directly we just experience our consciousness of the universe, our perception of it, so right, our only universe is perception."

"Yes, there is a conspiracy, in fact there are a great number of conspiracies that are all tripping each other up. And all of those conspiracies are run by paranoid fantasists and ham-fisted clowns. If you are on a list targeted by the CIA, you really have nothing to worry about. If however, you have a name similar to somebody on a list targeted by the CIA, then you are dead."

"The main thing that I learned about conspiracy theory is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in a conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy or the grey aliens or the 12 foot reptiloids from another dimension that are in control. The truth is more frightening, nobody is in control. The world is rudderless."

hypertext/?="The Metaphor is the Message"

Readers: Do you think in hypertext?

The era of the linear tome is dead, information is a web - who'd have thought it -
a net of knots in time and space, a palimpsest with infinite, self-referential layers.

I find that the model of hypertext has become the metaphor via which my thoughts, my research, finds form. I can't read one book at a time. Instead I skip between many, following an annotation in one, buying a bibiliographed reference, dipping into books by the same or similar authors in the bookstore, scribbling notes in one book about another. I make the world my internet; the library my world wide web.

Less I describe my journeys in hypertext, how about I carve them in hypertext, for you to explore?

Daily Dedroidify: Kabbalah & The Tree of Life

Daily Dedroidify: Kabbalah & The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life (more at the page, this post is just an excerpt) describes the descent of the divine into the manifest world, and methods by which divine union may be attained in this life. It can be viewed as a map of the human psyche and of the workings of creation, both manifest and unmanifest. Indeed, any system can be more fully understood both in itself and relative to any other system by viewing it in relation to the Tree of Life. The Tree allows and requires a more holistic understanding of any topic to which it is applied - reason, spiritual perception and intuition are all needed, as is clear from the structure of the Tree itself.

It is important to realize that the pure nature of divinity is unity, and that the seemingly separate aspects or emanations exist only in view of the emanated, living in a state of illusory separation.

Qabalah could be thought on as the mathematics of the esoteric with the literary side consisting of legends, myths and lore. In Qabalah numbers have a deeper significance. This could be because numbers have mystical properties in themselves, or it could be that numbers, being the purest of symbols, are appropriate entities to hang metaphysical concepts on.

It is difficult to imagine, but the originators of Qabalah had a very different number system from the one we are familiar with today. There is a difference between cardinal numbers (how many there are: 1, 2, 3 ...) and ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd ...). To represent cardinal numbers the early Semitic people used letters : aleph = 1, beth = 2, ... This is the basis of Gematria, where words also have numerical values.

Note: I still have no freaking idea how this model can be of any use to me practically :p. I find it hopelessly unnecessarily complicated and elaborate compared to say, the 8 Circuit model, but I admit I'm very much still a novice. Though comments or tips on excellent (explaining) Kabbalah books would be appreciated :).
That being said, check out this video which explains it more or less, at least you learn some new kabbalah and tarot symbolism which is always useful. Presented by the wonderful scottish Merlyn, check out the notes along with the vid.

"We take the very best of what people do, synthesise it down, make it learnable and share it with each other - and that is what the real future of what NLP will be and its gonna stay that way!"

"Disappointment requires adequate planning."

"The greatest personal limitation is to be found not in the things you want to do and can't, but in the things you've never considered doing."

"The reason people have problems is that they have too much time to think."

"The best thing about the past is that it's over. The best thing about the future is that it's yet to come. The best thing about the present is that it's here now."

"People always tell me with absolute certainty that they don't trust themselves."

"If you say to yourself 'It's difficult to get up in the morning', 'It's hard to cease smoking', then you are already using hypnotic suggestions on yourself..."

"You know what ? Certain people think they will feel good if certain things happen... The trick is : you have to feel good for no reason..."

"Remember, it's your own body, your own brain. You're not a victim of the universe, you are the universe."

"If you can't enjoy what you have, you can't enjoy more of it."

"My mantra for silencing the inner dialogue is: 'shut the fuck up, shut the fuck up, shut the fuck up,...'"

"I made the door in my house left-handed, because I'm left handed. When people come in, they push the door the wrong way, and hit themselves on the door. And you know what ? People keep harder and harder to do it ! When something doesn't work, try the same thing harder!"

"You are born with only two fears: fear of falling and fear of loud noise. All the rest is learned. And it's a lot of work!"

Battlestargate Galactica Symbolism (updated)

Along with earlier post "Are we the Evil that we see?" ties in nicely the storyline of the new Battlestar Galactica. (Spoiler alert! Article updated for latest episode) It seems that the Cylons and Humans will eventually have to come together and realize their interconnectedness to find peace and fulfillment.

The Cylons have even started shooting their own who wanted to do some cold reprogramming after even the raiders were acting beyond their programming, in other words their BS. Or was this programming of a higher or deeper level, or was it emerging consciousness? In the latest episode even the Centurions who now have the gift of reason showed signs of imminent rebellion and there was an attempt to obliterate the Six model line, after D'Anna's line already has been put to sleep.

Among the humans too the ones who realized they were Cylons from the start go beyond theirs (or are they?) and stay on the Human side, on the only side they really know, the one of their friends. Inevitably Hera (Isis), the Human-Cylon Hybrid of Sharon & Helo will have a role to play in this, for one thing her blood had amazing regenerative properties as it healed president Roslin from her cancer and perhaps she may heal much more. Until things got crazy in the latest episode as the Cylon programming of Tory has really come through, as she 'saved' the second hybrid baby. I hadn't even thought of that before that scene.

The show is amazing for any conspiracy and consciousness explorer, and just excellent period. Included in the show have been the use of entheogens for visions, suicide bombings as the last refuge against a seemingly unstoppable self-created enemy, faith versus reason, torture and prisoner abuse, media manipulation and politics, betrayal and revenge and forgiveness, war on terror and civil liberties, trust, cold reason and survival versus compassion and heavy sacrifice, human polytheism versus the Cylon monotheism and much more. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore has said of the Cylons "They have aspects of Al Qaeda, and they have aspects of the Catholic Church, and they have aspects of America."

The Human Survivors seek the path to Earth not fully realizing what destiny lies ahead, and of course in the temple and the Eye of Jupiter we can find some wonderful stargate symbolism (top and left corner in second image), as you can see in this vid along with some of the other topics I mentioned.

The vids are just amazing, the most recent trilogy - what a treat by the way - combining a lot of synchs again starting with partly-Philip K. Dick-inspired Southland tales, Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 and many more. I really look forward to Steve's vids each time, they're the best form of entertainment on the planet I find.
