South Park: The Coon (The Dark Knight)

Holy crap Matt & Trey, one site called this episode another one of their signature "fuck you, audience" episodes. A Dark Knight & Watchmen (& other comic references) parody featuring Cartman as the Coon (click the link). A bit over the top... ok a lot, especially if you consider who the Dark Knight/Coon parody might be referring to...

The Hope poster colors automatically make him look like Two-FaceTao slips another 400 points

"During times of great woe and despair, one young person in South Park takes it upon himself to keep order. "The Coon" rises from the gutter and becomes South Park's sole vigilante…until a rival superhero, "Mysterion" shows up on the scene and challenges "The Coon"'s right to be a beacon for the townsfolk."

Like in Dark Knight, vigilantes imitate the hero, though unfortunately in the real world, several people have imitated the Joker instead, possibly MK related.
The Mystery (or Truth) stands in the way of the Coon.
And is way more popular...
The eternal question: Who am I?
"The answer is never the answer. What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer - they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer."
Kevin Kesey
Professor Chaos (third eye included) and the Coon. Cosmic Consciousness ;).
"and this is like a cube of chaos that can destroy the world in one second!"
Check out General Disarray at the left, GD in a circle, GOD.
"A hospital!? I'm not gonna blow up any hospital! Are you nuts?"
The Mystery, Mysterion's true face is revealed, and it's anyone :p Who am I? ;).
He gets arrested though...
"With Mysterion (The Truth) out of the way the Coon can finally go back to keeping the city safe, once alone I'm the symbol the city can stand behind. Every town needs a hero. Every town needs a coon."

SP has really hit the ground running this season, great write-up. Interesting definitions at urban dictionary for 'coon' [BARACoon = cage, barack fits the 3rd definition listed imo] you've picked up on that I had no idea about. Thanks for quoting Butters' blow up a hospital line, cracked me up even just reading it!

Off-topic but did you catch the BSG series finale? Thought it was great, life-affirming stuff (BSG has some of the best music in a show I've ever heard too imo [Bear McCreary should win an award for it, and using an ethereal/occult (("those early songs were almost magically written"; he was likely under heavy MK at the time)) song Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower ((you've posted that MK link before I think, can't remember if you've covered Watchtower in BSG though)) for the series I think was a great idea too]). Wondering if you're putting a post together on it (definitely lots of material I think you could cover [esp at the very end]), if so I'm looking forward to reading it.

Keep it up mate, enjoyed your Jem and Reaper posts and generally great stuff lately btw.

Hey Benjamin, thanks a lot man! Yeah working on a BSG write-up, what an awesome finale. About the music, did you watch the documentary "the last fracking special"? There was an overview of all the many different styles used. I'll explore the watchtower song, if I remember correctly it was in watchmen too (which I saw the same day as the bsg finale, woo!). So much to dig in to! So watch out for ze upcoming post ;)
