Tao Te Ching: Book of The Way

This is a cool site to read the Tao Te Ching (increase font size with ctrl+):
the tao that can be told
is not the eternal tao
the name that can be named
is not the eternal name

the unnamable is the eternally real
naming is the origin
of all particular things

free from desire, you realize the mystery
caught in desire, you see only manifestations

yet mystery and manifestations
arise from the same source
this source is called darkness

darkness within darkness
the gateway to all understanding

Thanks so much for posting this. A beautifully presented way to read these beautiful words. I'm only up to verse 12 and already this text has penetrated my self.

If you're into the Tao Te Ching, there's a bunch of different translations here and here.

The site you link to in the post uses the Stephen Mitchel's translation, which is one of my favorites. Compare it to Aleister Crowley's for a good laugh.

My pleasure Joe!

Ian thanks, I've read several versions and Crowley's too.

Peace!
