How about going 'beyond the matrix' (if you'll excuse such a cheesy comment) though and realising that - especially if compared to all the rest of the known universe - something is very wrong and un-naturally forced that way to make so many stupid and ignorant people exist, then put them in bodies that can access stuff that ruins the rest of nature......

ignorance is a problem, but something made it happen that way on purpose.

It's not about saving the world, it's about removing the thing that creates the fake-ass scenarios whereby anyone may need to save the world.

Some great ones here I'd never heard before. One of my all time favourites related to learning, from Leary:

"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities — the political, the religious, the educational authorities — who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing — forming in our minds — their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself."

That last sentence really means a lot to me and resonates with what I've been through. This whole Leary quote page is great!
