Secrecy is the original sin - Timothy Leary

Complete Transparency equals Freedom

"Secrecy is the original sin. Fig leaf in the Garden of Eden. The basic crime against love... The purpose of life is to receive, synthesize and transmit energy. Communication fusion is the goal of life. Any star can tell you that. Communication is love. Secrecy, withholding the signal, hoarding, hiding, covering up the light is motivated by shame and fear. As so often happens, the right wing is half right for the wrong reasons. They say primly: if you have done nothing wrong, you have no fear of being bugged. Exactly. But the logic goes both ways. Then FBI files, CIA dossiers, White House conversations should be open to all. Let everything hang open. Let government be totally visible. The last, the very last people to hide their actions should be the police and the government." Timothy Leary

Unwarranted Surveillance equals Tyranny

Robert Anton Wilson on Cabala - Tasting the Forbidden Fruit of the Tree of Life

There's a tale they tell at Military Intelligence in London, when the candles gutter low and the fog curls about the windows. It happened in 1914 (they say), when England was losing the first world war and it seemed only a miracle could save her. There was this writer bloke (they say), name of Arthur Machen, never popular or well known, a bloody Welshman in fact and a mystic to boot. Well (they say), this Welshman, this Machen, took it into his head to write a story about the kind of miracle England needed, so he imagined St. George himself leading a group of medieval archers to aid the English troops at Mons. And after the story was published in a magazine, some enterprising newspapers picked it up and reprinted it as fact. And (they say) the whole damned country was gullible enough to believe it. It did as much for national morale as the real miracle would have.

What is even weirder is the sequel -and the chaps at Military Intelligence only discuss this when the candles gutter quite low and the fog is very thick, of course. Soldiers at the front, in Mons, began claiming that they had actually seen the phantom archers created out of Machen's imagination. They insisted on it. Some of them were still insisting on it 40 years later. They said they had won the battle because of this supernatural assistance.

Fair gives you a turn, doesn't it?

Stranger still: Machen, the man with the contagious imagination, was a member of a secret society in London. This was known as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and it claimed to know the long-hidden secrets of Cabalistic magic.

There were several other members of the Golden Dawn who made a bit of a name. Florence Farr, one of the great actresses of the period, was a member, and it was she who gave Bernard Shaw the ideas about life-energy and longevity dramatized in Back to Methuselah; those ideas are currently influencing life-extension research. Algernon Blackwood and Bram Stoker (Dracula's creator) were members; so was the coroner of London; so was an electrical engineer named Alan Bennett who later, as Ananda Maitreya, played a key role in introducing Buddhist ideas to the West.

The egregious Aleister Crowley; who claimed to have come to earth to destroy Christianity; was a member for a while, and I know a good World War I story about him, too. It was Crowley's habit to give his pupils a word to meditate on every year. In 1918, Crowley gave them a number instead of a word: 11. All year his pupils meditated on 11 for at least a half hour every day. . . And the war ended on the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Did you feel another queer flash then?

The most famous Golden Dawn alumnus, however, was the great Irish poet, William Butler Yeats. In 1894 Yeats predicted that "the right pupils will be drawn to (the Golden Dawn) by dreams and visions and strange accidents . . .”

Cabala, the working philosophy behind the Golden Dawn, is the science of "strange accidents” – which are known as "mere coincidences" to the rationalist or "synchronicities" to Jungian psychologists.

Cabala (also spelled Qabala or Kaballah) was either taught by God to Adam in the Garden of Eden, according to its own tradition' or was invented by a group of rabbis c. A.D. 200 as a means of transmitting the esoteric inner teachings of Judaism after the fall of Jerusalem and the Dispersion. Among the prominent medieval and Renaissance philosophers who were Cabalists one can mention Raymond Lull, Cornelius Agrippa, Giordano Bruno, Dr. John Dee, Pico della Mirandola and Isaac Newton. Cabala became unfashionable in the 18th century and did not begin to make a comeback until the Brain Explosion of the 1960s -the drug culture, the consciousness movement, the importation of Oriental mind-sciences, the popularity of Jung and Leary and Castaneda.

One way to get into the Cabalistic head space is to reflect long and hard on the singular fact that we could not live-could not breathe, in fact-without the trees busily pumping oxygen into the air. Yet the trees are not "thinking" about producing life-support for us. To the rationalist, it seems that our need for oxygen has no real connection with the trees' production of that element; sheer chance (or, the more vehement rationalists will anthropomorphically say, "blind chance") happens to have produced trees, through natural selection, over many aeons. The fact that we exist is, to this philosophy, a total accident, a very strange coincidence.

And, to the same rationalist, Arthur Machen's imagination has no real connection with what was happening on the battlefield at Mons. The magical link between Machen's imagination and the "collective hallucination" of the soldiers is just coincidence – like the magical link between us and the trees.

To the Cabalist, the rationalist sounds like a man found in a closet by a jealous husband, who hopefully explains, "Just by coincidence, while you were away on business I happened to wander into this closet without my clothes on. . .”

To the Cabalist, the whole universe is a network of meaningful connections. The seemingly coincidental is as full of meaning as anything else. To begin thinking like a Cabalist you must regard everything as being just as important as everything else. All that seems "accidental," "meaningless," "chaotic," "weird," "nonsensical;' et cetera is as significant as what seems lawful, orderly and comprehensible.

An elementary Cabalistic training technique is to try every day to "regard every incident and event as a direct communication between God and your sou1." Even the license plates on passing cars are such communications-or can be considered as such-by the devout Cabalist.
Some will be thinking of Freud at this point; and indeed Nathan Fodor points out in Freud, Jung and the Occult that Freud was heavily influenced by a friend who was a Cabalist. The "dreams, visions and strange accidents" that Yeats thought would bring people into the ambience of the Golden Dawn are all Freudian "unconscious material.”

A more modern metaphor is to be found in current neurology; which points out that the brain is divided into two hemispheres. The left hemisphere is where we do most of our conscious thinking, and it is linear; it breaks things down into sequences of A-causes-B, B-causes-C, and so forth. The right hemisphere, on the contrary; thinks in gestalt-meaningful wholes, comprehensive systems.

Cabala, like dope, is a deliberate attempt to overthrow the linear left brain and allow the contents of the holistic right brain to flood the field of consciousness. When you are walking down the street and every license plate seems part of one continuous message-one endless narrative-you are thinking like a very advanced theoretical Cabalist. (Or else you're stoned out of your gourd.) Practical Cabala (or Cabalistic magic) is the art of utilizing such holistic perception to create effects that will seem like "strange accidents" to the non-Cabalist.
A legendary example concerns an incident when the king of Poland was being urged by his advisers to authorize a pogrom against the Jews. One old Hasidic rabbi and the Hasidic rabbis spend most of their time studying Cabala-sat down, on hearing of this, and pretended to be writing something; but he did not write. Instead, he deliberately knocked his bottle over three times. His students, who saw this, thought the old man was getting a bit funny in the head. Then, a few days later; came news from the capital: The king had tried to sign the order for the pogrom three times, and each time he had-by "strange accident knocked over his ink bottle. "I can't sign this," the king finally exclaimed. "God is against it!"

Every Oriental culture has some equivalent to Cabala – some neuroscience of meditations, visualizations and yogic contortions calculated to shift consciousness, or part of consciousness, from the usually overactive left hemisphere to the usually underactive right hemisphere. Cabala differs from all these Oriental disciplines in being as systematic as any natural science-although far weirder:

The system of Cabala is contained in a kind of ontological periodic table of elements (see illustration). The purpose of this diagram has been nicely defined by the eminent contemporary Cabalist (and Jungian psychologist) Dr. Israel Regardie, who describes it as "a mnemonic system of psychology. . . to train the Will and Imagination."

The tree, as you can see, is made up of ten circles, called lights, and 22 paths connecting the lights. Each light represents a separate level of consciousness, and hence a separate level of "reality:' That is, to the Cabalist, each perceived reality is a function of the level of consciousness which perceives it, and how much reality you can absorb depends on how rich your consciousness is.
The paths, which are more technical than the lights, are techniques for getting from one light (one level of awareness) to another: '
The aim of the Cabala is to always know which "light" you are in, which is the level of consciousness that is creating what you are perceiving; and then to know the paths, or tricks, to get from one light (perceived reality) to another.

Dion Fortune, a Cabalist who also practiced psychoanalysis under her birth name, Violet Wirth, sums it all up by saying Cabala is "the art of causing change in consciousness by act of will"

The Tree of Life may be regarded as a map of those parts of consciousness which (a) are active in everybody-the lower parts of the tree; and (b) those which are only active in various orders of adepts-the higher parts of the tree.

The pragmatic theory of Cabala is that each action creates a new "universe," each experiment creates a new experimenter, each dance creates a new dancer. We are growing and evolving all the time, without noticing it usually; but a_ certain crucial points we can make a mental quantum jump to a level of awareness that puts us in a new reality we have never noticed before. Each of the lights on the Tree of Life represents such a quantum jump.

Concretely, we all start out in Malkuth, at the bottom of the tree, which represents the lowest level of awareness. This is what Freud called the oral stage: We simply drift and wait to be fed. Alcoholics, opiate addicts and most of the people on welfare for "psychological" reasons represent this state in its pure form, but we all contain it and relapse into it under sufficient stress. "I can't cope; somebody come help me:' Hear the infant's shrill cry. "Maaa-Maaa!" and you know what Malkuth is all about.

Above this is Yesod, the area of strong ego-awareness and what Gurdjieff called conscious suffering. This is where you struggle to be a real mensch, to be honorable, responsible, and self-sufficient. If you never get beyond this, you become what doctors called Type A and are a good bet for an early heart attack.

There are two ways to transcend Yesod's struggles. One takes you to Hod, which can be called the tactic _of the rationalist (Dr: Carl Sagan will serve as a model for this), and the other to Netzach, which is the strategy of the ordinary religionist (Jerry Falwell, say).

According to Cabala, both the rationalist and the vulgar religionist are unbalanced; in modern neurological language, the rationalist leans too much on the left brain and the religionist too much on the right brain. The synthesis, or balancing, brings you to the Middle Pillar and is represented by the light called Tiphareth-which charmingly enough means "beauty" in English.

Looking at the tree, you can see that the rationalist has a different path to Tiphareth from that of the religionist. The rationalist must go the path of nun ("fish") and the religionist the path of ayin ("eye"). Any book on Cabala will tell you what nun and ayin imply in terms of the psychological transformation involved. Fortunately, the tarot cards were either created or revised by a Cabalist and the meanings of nun and ayin are vividly conveyed to the unconscious by the two cards called, respectively. Death and the Devil. Anybody with even a rudimentary knowledge of psychology can grasp part of what is meant here-the rationalist must "make friends with" Death and the religionist with the Devil. This is what Jung means when he says each man must face his own shadow.

(Every path on the tree has a tarot card illustrating it, and the quickest way to make the tree clear to your unconscious is to layout the cards representing the paths' between each light. The next step is to redesign the cards in terms of your own understanding. Some Cabalists redesign the tarot every two or three years, as their understanding grows.)

Tiphareth, the balanced center between and above both rationalism and religion, means beauty, as we said above. It is the first light that does not appear in normal, statistically average consciousness, and is identified with everything we mean by rebirth or awakening. It is dhyana in the Hindu system, "Buddha-mind" in Buddhism, the "New Adam" in St. Paul's epistles, Cosmic Christ Consciousness to Christian Cabalists. It represents a total reorganization of the psyche for a higher level of functioning than most humans ever attain. When Dr. Timothy Leary says gnomically that "the nervous system sees no color, feels no pain;' he means that the nervous system on this level sees no color; feels no pain. You are floating, and this is the first light on the tree that really feels like a light. Acidheads will know.
Above Tiphareth are two more unbalanced lights called Geburah and Chesed. Roughly; Geburah is the stage of Nietzsche's superman: he who is much more conscious than ordinary people and knows it. In George Lucas's symbolism, Geburah means "being seduced by the dark side of the Force:' It needs to be balanced by Chesed, which is humility in the deepest, more ego-destroying sense. In Castaneda's lingo, Geburah is "taking responsibility" and Chesed is doing so while always remembering that "you are no more important than the coyote.”

Geburah says "I am God"; Chesed says, “And so is everybody else – and everything else!"

There are three more lights on the tree. These are known as the supernals and are much further from ordinary human consciousness than Tiphareth, Geburah or Chesed. Many Cabalists say that you cannot reach the supernals without the direct help of the Almighty. Even with such divine aid, reaching the supernals is known as "crossing the abyss" and is regarded as fraught with peril.

The first two supernals are Chokmah and Binah. You will note on the diagram that they are both unbalanced – off the Middle Pillar. Basically; Chokmah is direct contact with the masculine aspect of "God" and corresponds to whatever you associate with Jehovah, Jupiter; Brahma, Zeus, et cetera. Binah is direct contact with the female side of divinity and corresponds to Venus, Ishtar, Kali or the White Goddess that Robert Graves is always writing about. Cabala says that each of these Close Encounters has to be "balanced." That is, you have to get beyond both Big Daddy and Big Mommy to arrive at the ultimate light, Kether, the balanced center of all consciousness, which is beyond gender, beyond space, beyond time, beyond words and beyond all categories. In short, Kether is exactly what all the Oriental mystics are seeking: pure consciousness without a blemish of emotion, idea or image, and therefore infinite and formless.

Cabala is very complicated and very; very intricate; the above sketch is no more than a hint of what the Tree of Life contains, on about the level of a discussion of chemistry that tells you there are eight families of elements but does not go on to list the elements in each family. To discuss Cabala fully requires many books; and indeed there is one good-sized book, Liber 777, by Aleister Crowley; which consists only of listing the elements in each light and path of the tree, and Liber 777 consists of 155 pages with four columns on each page.
The purpose of such lists is to design rituals, and the purpose of rituals is to program your own experience as you navigate from one light to another. As Tim Leary once said, "Ritual is to the inner sciences what experiment is to the outer sciences.” Cabalists agree.
For instance, suppose you have had a very powerful experience of the Punishing Father aspect of God, such as John Calvin once had. Within the orthodox Judeo-Christian tradition, you might take this literally and proceed, as Calvin did, to establish a new religion. As a Cabalist, you will recognize it as a Chokmah experience and know that it needs to be balanced by a Binah experience.

You then look on the Tree of Life for a path from Chokmah to Binah. That turns out to be daleth ("door"), which corresponds to the Empress card in the tarot. If you look at the Empress you will immediately note that she happens to be a pregnant woman sitting in a field surrounded by vegetation. That should tell your unconscious what the path of daleth means. (By a "strange accident" or "mere coincidence" the Empress card, in most tarot decks, contains the women's-liberation symbol and always has, long before there was a feminist movement. That should help jar your consciousness. )

If the Empress card doesn't tell you enough, you look up daleth in any Cabalistic textbook, such as Crowley's 777. You will find that daleth is "in correspondence with" such things as the planet Venus, the color emerald green, the swan, the rose, sandalwood incense, the heptagram (seven-sided polygon), et cetera, and is most powerful on Friday. Thus, to get from Chokmah to Binah, you construct a ritual-a dramatized rnindchange operation-to be performed within a heptagram, on Friday evening as Venus is rising, using emerald green decorations, roses, swan feathers and sandalwood incense. If you follow all these correspondences, and know how to write rituals, and have had enough experiences with Cabala to have developed a powerful will and imagination, you should achieve Binah, the vision of the All-Loving Mother.

Similarly, there are favorable days, and perfumes, and geometric figures, and other accessories, for every type of brain change operation. Sunday is best for Tiphareth (Christ consciousness), Monday for Yesod (building a stronger ego), Tuesday for Geburah (accumulating powers), Wednesday for Hod (wisdom). Thursday for Netzsch (moral strength), Friday for Binah and Saturday for Chokmah.

This is only the skeleton of Cabala, however. Real Cabalistic practice consists of so familiarizing yourself with all the correspondences on the Tree of Life that everything you experience is filed and indexed by your brain as a Cabalistic "message.” Thus, if you walk out the door and see a palm tree, you immediately (by self-conditioning with Cabala) think of Venus and Hermes – because door is daleth is Venus, and palm is beth is Hermes. If you see a license plate with 333 on it, you remember that that is the number of egotism and deception, and you must ask what egotism and deception remains in yourself. In short, nothing is trivial; nothing is insignificant; nothing is meaningless. The whole universe, as Crowley says, becomes a continuous ritual of initiation.

A Zen Master was once asked, "What is Zen?" “Attention,” he replied. "Is that all?" asked the inquirer. "Attention,” the Zen Master repeated. "Won't you say anything else?" persisted the questioner. “Attention,” said the Master, one more time.

Cabala creates attention by using the Tree of Life to "key" every possible impression to one of the lights or paths and hence to a stage in the evolution of consciousness. The world becomes – as it was to Plato and Mary Baker Eddy and Sir Humphrey Davy when he tried nitrous oxide – nothing but ideas.

Theoretical Cabala is much concerned with words and numbers, and indeed insists that every word is a number. This is literally true in Hebrew, because all Hebrew letters are numbers, and the number of a word is the number obtained by adding its separate letters together. Cabala claims that any words having the same number are in some sense identical or "in correspondence with" each other.
For instance, achad (I am writing the Hebrew as if it were English, for simplicity's sake) has the value of 13. So does ahebah. What does this mean? Well, achad translates as "unity" and ahebah as "love,” so by the mathematical theorem that things equal to the same thing are equal to each other; the Cabalist calculates that love (ahebeh) equals 13 and unity (achad) equals 13 and therefore love equals unity. And, of course, when you love somebody you are in union with them: You are happy when they are happy; you suffer when they suffer.
Better still, it works backwards, too, according to some Cabalists: 31 is 13 backwards and therefore 31 is mystically the same as 13. And AI, the oldest name of God in Hebrew; has the value 31. Therefore, God equals love equals unity.

Which is all very nice and cheerful, and it's pleasant to have our first lesson in theorhetical Cabala coming up with such pleasant information.

Unfortunately; la (nothing) also equals 31. Is God therefore nothing? Or is it unity that is nothing? or love?

The theoretical Cabalist is not abashed. God is nothing, he says firmly – no-thing. And in this he is in agreement with the Buddhists and Hindus and, indeed, the most advanced mystics of all traditions. It only sounds queer to those primitives down at the bottom of the Tree of Life in Hod (rationalism) or Netzach (conventional religion); if you persist in Cabala long enough, the divine no-thing will make perfect sense to you.

Unfortunately; before you arrive at Kether – "the Head without a Head," the divine nothing – you will be sure to encounter even worse shocks in theoretical Cabala. Thus, neschek, the serpent in Genesis, the devil himself, has the value 358. You don't have to look far to find another Hebrew word with the value 358. It jumps up at you, as soon as you start studying Cabala. It is messiah.

In what sense is the devil the messiah? Some Cabalists have gone quite batty working on that one.

The charm of Cabala is that the universe adjusts-or in your excited and overstimulated state, appears to adjust-in ways that heighten such perplexities. When I first discovered the 358-equals-devil-equals-messiah paradox, I had to go to Los Angeles on business. Arriving at my hotel I found I had been given room 358. That's the sort of "strange accident" that Yeats was talking about, as one of the portals to Cabala. . .

For several years English biologist Lyall Watson has been collecting the products of Jung's "collective unconsciousness" – dreams, hypnotic states, mediumistic phenomena, automatic writing, et cetera. In his book, Lifetide, Watson offers a tentative summary of the data: "... there is a sameness in the tone, the word structure, the feeling, and the delivery of almost all the material. It has a dreamlike quality; and my feeling is that the vast majority of all the evidence I am looking at is a series produced by one prodigious dreamer" (italics added).

William Butler Yeats, trying to justify his interest in Cabalastic magic to rationalistic friends, came up with the same metaphor: "The borders of our minds are ever shifting, and many minds can flow into one another; as it were, and create or reveal a single mind. . . our memories are part of one great memory; the memory of Nature herself.”

This "one great dreamer" or "one great memory" can be accessed by Cabalistic practices, or by Zen meditation, or by LSD, or by a dozen other gimmicks. It has the quality of oneness in that it is the same no matter who accesses it or when-whether they are in India 500 B.G or Florence A.D. 1300 or in New York City today. It seems to be "timeless" or unconnected to our conscious notions of sequential time, as even so materialistic an observer as Freud noticed. One of the benefits of the psychological investigations of our times-from Freud and Jung to the LSD research of the '60s and the human-potential movement-has been to make most of us aware again, for the first time since the 17th century; that this level of the psyche exists in all of us and cannot safely be repressed or ignored.

The Cabalist, scorned by the 19th century as a crank or a charlatan, seems to be having the last laugh after all. There may be only one person in 10,000 – or in 100,000 – who seriously studies Cabala, but the avant-garde third of the population understands Cabalistic logic very well. If you show them the Tree of Life, and explain it, they might say that it is an alternative map of the charkas – if they are into Oriental mind-science; or an anatomy of the collective unconscious- if they're into Jung; or the circuits of the nervous system-if Tim Leary is their bag; but one way or another they will recognize it. It looked like gibberish to Yeats's contemporaries.

Military Intelligence never could figure out how the "angelic archers" escaped from Arthur Machen's imagination to the perceptions of the soldiers at Mons. But the readers of this magazine understand.

Subliminal-Synchro-Sphere: 666 - The 'Solstice Sun King' and the 'Moon Baby'

Got a few hours to spare to get your mind blown?
666 - The 'Solstice Sun King' and the 'Moon Baby'
from the Subliminal-Synchro-Sphere
Horselover Phat, I salute you!

Just a few teasers:
In December 1948, Parsons took “the Oath of the Abyss” in a ritual conducted before W.T. Smith. This is tantamount to willingly suffering the “long, dark night of the soul” that is common in artistic and psychological literature. While most occult initiations can be “given,” i.e., passed on through ritual and the laying on of hands or some other appropriate ceremony, the initiatory levels of the “Abyss” and beyond cannot be imposed by human intervention, according to the tradition of the western mystery schools. In this case, all of creation is seen as the Qabalists’ “Tree of Life,” a diagram containing ten spheres connected by twenty-two paths. The top three spheres and the bottom seven spheres are “separated” in this instance by the Abyss, a place where one’s ego is destroyed… or not. If not, then one becomes a “black brother,” or “magician of the left-hand path,” that is, an evil magician and source of pestilence. If one has successfully passed the Abyss, however, then one attains greater spiritual glory.

Tim the (bolt throwing) Enchanter (druid) led them to the cave of the rabbit and he is able to cast 'bolts' (drui lanach/druids lightning)

The ancient Druids, masters of magic and hidden sorcery, defined two kinds of lightning, the one Dis-Lanach, the Lightning God, the other Drui-Lanach, the Lightning of the Druids, and hence their tremendous power. Volcanoes in eruption led to the discovery of this secret, for in eruption they throw out masses of rock and stones with tremendous velocity and exemplify terrific force. In these emissions occur sulphur, saltpetre and carbon, the ingredients of gunpowder.

The Tower in Holy Grail seems a strong and repeated thematic!
A dejected Arthur leaves the castle tower...where he expected to find the grail
The French soldiers berating him and throwing things from the top!

To others, the Tower represents the paradigms constructed by the ego, the sum total of all schema that the mind constructs to understand the universe. The Tower is struck by lightning when reality does not conform to expectation (see pic above and below). The querent may be holding on to false ideas or pretenses; a new approach to thinking about the problem is needed. The querent is advised to think outside the box. The querent is warned that truth may not oblige schema. It may be time for the querent to re-examine belief structures, ideologies, and paradigms they hold to. The card may also point toward seeking education or higher knowledge.

Life of Brian
A WTF interlude...Brian (Chapman) falls from the tower and an alien spacecraft takes him on a trip and crash lands next to the same tower.

To others, the Tower represents the paradigms constructed by the ego, the sum total of all schema that the mind constructs to understand the universe.

The Tower is struck by lightning when reality does not conform to expectation
...moments before Brian is whisked away into space

The querent may be holding on to false ideas or pretenses; a new approach to thinking about the problem is needed. The querent is advised to think outside the box. The querent is warned that truth may not oblige schema. It may be time for the querent to re-examine belief structures, ideologies, and paradigms they hold to. The card may also point toward seeking education or higher knowledge.
(the above text...seemingly fitting this scene like a glove & perhaps, aimed just as much at us, as it is Brian)

Green 3rd eye aliens

A variety of explanations for the images on the card (The Tower) have been attempted. For example, it may be a reference to the biblical story of the Tower of Babel, (Babylon) where God destroys a tower built by mankind to reach Heaven.

The Tarot of Marseilles depicts a burning tower being struck by lightning or fire from the sky, its top section dislodged and crumbling.

Cleese's other 'turreted castle tower'...lol.
"Well, may I ask what you expected to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon?"

The Holy Grail?

Orion (Osiris/Arthur) as an overflowing grail chalice cup...the tarot has colum/dove near, like the sky map (see below)!  The tarot 'ace of cups' also evokes the OTO insignia badge!
Ace of Cups (W) W=23...Psalm (Palm/hand, see ace pic) 23...'Lord is my shepherd' & 'my cup runneth over' etc.

 Ace of Cups...Palm 23

The Lord (Orion/Osiris) is my Shepherd (Anu/Orion/Osiris)...one and the same!

Puppets...being mastered by both ends of the spectrum...the cross and the devil!

Illuminatus! Excerpt: Liberation

The nine stages of Hashishim training, the thirteen stages in Weishaupt's Iluminati, the thirty-two
degrees of masonry, etc., are, of course, arbitrary. The Theravada Buddhists have a system of forty
meditations, each leading to a definite stage of growth. Some schools of Hinduism recognize only
two stages: Dhyana, conquest of the personal ego, and Samadhi, unity with the Whole. One can
equally well posit five stages or a hundred and five. The essential that is common to all these systems
is that the trainee, at some point or other, is nearly scared to death.*

* An interesting account of a traditional system used by quite primitive Mexican
Indians, yet basically similar to any and all of the above, is provided by anthropologist
Carlos Castaneda, who underwent training with a Yaqui shaman, and recounts some of
the terrors vividly in The Teachings of Don Juan, A Separate Reality, Journey to Ixtlan,
and Tales of Power. Don Juan used peyote, stramonium, and a magic mushroom
(probably psilocyble Mexicana, the drug Tim Leary used for his first trip).

The difference between these systems is that some aim to liberate every candidate and some, like
Sabbah's and Weishaupt's, deliberately encourage the majority to remain in ignorance, whereby they
may with profit be endlessly exploited by their superiors in the cult. The same general game of an
illuminated minority misusing a superstitious majority was characteristic of Tibet until the Chinese
Communist invasion broke the power of the high lamas. A sympathetic account of the Tibetan
system, which goes far toward justifying it, can be found in Alexandra David-Neel's The Hidden
Teachings of Tibetan Buddhism; an unsympathetic account by a skeptical fellow mystic is available
in The Confessions of Aleister Crowley.

I've been scared to death quite a few times...

The Illuminatus! Trilogy is a series of three novels written by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson.

Illuminatus! Excerpt: Five stages

Now for a few words about the "real truth," at least as the Illuminati understand "real truth."

Every society actually passes through the five stages of Verwirrung, or chaos; Zweitracht, or discord;
Unordnung, or confusion; Beamtenherrschaft, or bureaucracy; and Grummet, or aftermath.
Sometimes, to make comparison with the exoteric Hegel-Marx system more pointed, the esoteric
Illuminati system is defined as: Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis, Parenthesis, and Paralysis. The public
Hegel-Marx triad is also called the tricycle, and the arcane latter two stages are called the bicycle;
one of the first secrets revealed to every illuminatus Minore is "After the tricycle it comes always the
bicycle." (The Uluminati are rather prone toward literal translations from Weishaupt's German.)

The first stage, Verwirrung or chaos, is the point from which all societies begin and to which they all
return. It is, so to speak, the natural condition of humanity—an estimation which the reader can
confirm by closely observing his neighbors (or, if he has the necessary objectivity, himself).

It is, therefore, also the fundamental Thesis. The Illuminati associate this with Eris, and also with
other goddesses from Isis to Ishtar and from Kwannon to Kali—with the Female Principle, yin, in
general. This correlates with hexagram 2 in the I Ching: that is, K'un, which has the meanings of
receptivity, nature (in contrast to spirit), earth (in contrast to sky), female (in contrast to male). Thus,
although this is the first stage chronologically, it has the mystical number 2, which is always
associated with the female in magic; and it correlates with the 2nd trump in Tarot, the High Priestess,
who represents not only maternity and fertility but gnosis. The sign of the horns represents
Verwirrung because the fingers make a V shape; and the planet or the symbol of Venus, also
designates this stage. On the Zodiac: Aquarius.

The second stage, Zweitracht, begins with the appearance of a ruling or governing class. This is the
Antithesis of chaos, of course, and leads directly into discord when the servile class discovers that its
interests are not the same as the interests of the ruling class. This correlates with Osiris, Jehovah, and
all masculine deities; with the symbol of the All-Seeing Eye; with hexagram 1 in the I Ching: Ch'ien,
the creative, the heavenly, the strong, the powerful; with the male principle, yang, in general; with
the number 3, symbolizing the all-male Christian trinity; with the 12th trump of the Tarot, the
Hanged Man,  symbolizing sacrifice, schism and schizophrenia; and with the planet or symbol of
Mars,  . Naturally, a Zweitracht period is always replete with "internal contradictions," and
somebody like Karl Marx always arises to point them out. On the Zodiac: Pisces.

The third stage, Unordnung or confusion, occurs when an attempt is made to restore balance or
arrive at the Hegelian Synthesis. This correlates with Loki, the Devil, Mercury (god of thieves),
Thoth in his role of Trickster, Coyote, and other spirits of illusion or deception; with hexagram 4 in
the I Ching, Meng, youthful folly or standing on the brink of the abyss; with the number 11,
signifying sin, penance, and revelation; with the 21st trump in the Tarot, the Fool who walks over the
abyss; and with the planet or sign of Mercury,  . It represents that attempt to restore the state of
nature by unnatural means, an annihilation of the biogram by the logogram. On the Zodiac: Cancer.

The fourth stage, Beamtenherrschaft or bureaucracy, represents the Parentheses that occur when the
Hegelian Synthesis does not succeed in reconciling the opposites. This correlates with Void (absence
of any divinity); with I Ching hexagram 47, K'un, oppression or exhaustion, superior men held in
restraint by inferior men; with the number 8, indicating balance and the Last Judgment; with the 16th
Tarot trump, Falling Tower, representing deteriorations and the Tower of Babel; and with the
planetoid or sign of the moon,  . On the Zodiac: Libra.

The fifth stage, Grummet or aftermath, represents the transition back to chaos. Bureaucracy chokes
in its own paperwork; mind is at the end of its tether; in desperation, many begin to deny the
logogram and follow the biogram, with varying degrees of success. This correlates with
Hermaphrodite; with I Ching hexagram 59, Huan, dispersion, dissolution, foam on the water; with
the number 5, union of male and female; with the 6th trump of the Tarot, the Lovers, indicating
union; and with the sun or its symbol,  . On the Zodiac: Virgo.
Since the association of these references, and their bearings on history, may be a bit unclear to some
readers, we will give further details on each stage.

VERWIRRUNG
In this chaotic period, the Hodge and the Podge are in dynamic balance. There is no stasis: The
balance is always shifting and homeostatic, in the manner of the ideal "self-organizing system" of
General Systems Theory or Cybernetics. The Illuminati, and all authoritarian types in general, dislike
such ages so much that they try to prevent any records of their existence from reaching the general
public. Pre-Chou China was one such period, and its history (except for some fragments in Taoist
lore) is largely lost; we do know, however, that the I Ching was reorganized when the Chou Dynasty
introduced patriarchal authoritarianism to China. It was then that the hexagram K'un, associated with this period was moved from the first place to its present, second place in the Ching.
Every line in K'un is broken (yin), because this is a feminist and prepatriarchal form of society, and
because yin correlates with the agricultural rather than the urban. Always linked to darkness by mystics, this K'un style of sensibility is also linked, by the Illuminati, with dreck (dung) and everything they find messy and intolerable about ordinary human beings. (The Erisians, of course,
take the opposite position, connect this with Eris, the primordial goddess, and regard it as ideal.)
Verwirrung is numerologically linked with 2, not only because of K'un's shift from first to second
place in the Ching, but because it is the balance of Hodge and Podge. Thus, even though it is the first
stage chronologically, it is never linked with 1 in magic sense, because 1 signifies the erect penis, the
male principle in isolation, and such authoritarian games as monotheism, monopoly, monogamy, and
general monotony. This dynamic 2-ness of Verwirrung is also implicit in its Tarot card, the 2nd
trump or High Priestess, who sits between a black pillar and a white one (cf. The Hodge and Podge)
and who represents mystery, magic, mischief, and Erisian values generally. She wears the balanced
(solar) cross, rather than the unbalanced (Christian) cross, to emphasize the unity of opposites in
such a historical period.
Typical Aquarians who have manifested Verwirrung values are Aaron Burr, Christopher Marlowe,
Hung Mung, Charles Darwin, Willard Gibbs (who incorporated chaos into mathematics), Mrs.
Patrick Campbell, Elizabeth Blackwell (pioneer woman physician), Anna Pavlova, Mozart, Lewis
Carrol, Robert Burns, James Joyce, Lord Byron, David Wark Griffith, and Gelett Burgess, author of
the classic Erisian poem:
I never saw a purple cow I never hope to see one But I'll tell you this anyhow: I'd rather see than be one.
The Verwirrung phase of European history is identified with the Danubian Culture, so called because
most of its relics have been found along the shores of the Danube. According to archeologists, the Danubian culture was agricultural, pre-urban, worshipped a female rather than a male god, and never
invented anything remotely like a state. The pre-Inca society of Peru, the Minoan civilization, the
pre-Chou period of China already mentioned, and many American Indian tribes still surviving also
represent a Verwirrung social framework. The synthesis of Hodge and Podge, and especially of
biogram and logogram, in such cultures is indicated by the amazement of explorers from authoritarian societies when first encountering them. The usual words about the "grace" and "spontaniety" of the natives merely represent the lack of authoritarian conflict between biogram and logogram: These people sit, like the Tarot High Priestess, between opposite poles, without tilting one way or the other.
But the fact that this is a dynamic and not a static balance means that eventually (after 73 permutations, according to Weishaupt) the second stage must evolve.

ZWEITRACHT
In this discordant period, the Hodge and the Podge are in conflict, because a ruling class emerges
which attempts to control the others. This correlates with hexagram 1, Ch'ien, the all-powerful, in the I Ching. The six unbroken lines represent the severity and monotony of such a period, which is, above all, the age of the T-square, the building of fences, the division of lands by
"boundaries" drawn on maps, and the imposition of one man's (or one group's) will upon all others.
Typically, the earth is regarded as both flat and finite by the Zweitracht mentality, and there is much
concern with dividing it up into portions (among themselves, of course). The "superstitious" terror of
American Indians when first confronting maps was merely the reaction of a Verwirrung mentality to
a Zweitracht mentality: The Indians could not conceive of people treating earth as a thing to be
exploited rather than a mother to be respected.
Zweitracht associates with 3 numerologically because 3 is the totally male number, because all-male
Trinities (Brahma-Vishnu-Siva, Father-Son-Spirit, etc.) are invented in such ages, and because the
discord always has a minimum of 3 vectors, not merely 2. That is, the division into a propertied
ruling class and an unpropertied governed class immediately sets in motion further cupidity; the
ruling class soon falls to fighting over the spoils. Contrary to Marx, most of the strife in Zweitracht
ages is not the conflict between proprietors and proles but between various proprietors over who gets
the biggest share of the pie.
The governing Tarot card is trump 12, the Hanged Man. The cross on which he hangs is blossoming,
to show that it is still organic and alive (the biogram); he hangs upside down, to show the reversal of
nature. He represents both the burden of omniscience in the owning-governing class and the burden
of nescience in the servile-submissive class: the total crucifixion of desire by Realprinzip and
Realpolitik.
The astrological sign of this period is Pisces, the two fish swimming in opposite directions indicating
the conflict of logogram and biogram ("body" and "spirit," astrologers say.) Typical Pisceans who
have shown the Zweitracht personality are E. H. Harriman, the railroad magnate (who covered the
United States with Ch'ien-style unbroken straight lines), Cardinal John Henry Newman, Sir Robert
Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts (an attempt to instill Piscean authoritarianism even in
childhood), Admiral Chester Nimitz, John Foster Dulles, Anna Lee (founder of the world's most
antisexual religion, the Shakers), industrialists like Kruger and Pullman, financiers like Cambell and
Braden, Grover Cleveland, John C. Calhoun, Neville Chamberlain, Andrew Jackson (whose
expulsion of the Cherokee Nation from its traditional lands onto the "trail of tears," where most of
them perished, is the archetypal Zweitracht land-grab), William Jennings Bryan, and Frank Stanton
of CBS.
Since all Illuminati with any academic leanings at all are encouraged to major in history, the tendency in most textbooks is not only to black out Verwirrung periods but to glorify Zweitracht periods as ages of Light and Progress. Indeed, they make entertaining reading: They .are ages of expansion, and there are always new people being discovered to be subjugated, "civilized," and converted to tax-payers and rent-payers. Almost any age described in glowing and admiring language in a history text will prove, on examination, to be a Zweitracht era, and the foremost butchers and invaders are treated as the outstanding heroes of humanity. A sympathetic reading of the biographies of these empire-builders almost always indicates that they were homo neophile individuals who turned their talents to destruction rather than creativity because of bitterness engendered by years of torment and baiting by homo neo-phobe types during their childhoods. The ever-present conflict in a Zweitracht period eventually leads to the third stage.

UNORDNUNG
Humanity has been transformed during a Zweitracht age, by placing logogram in governing authority
over bio-gram. Unordnung is an attempt to restore balance by revolutionizing the logogram; there is
no thought about the biogram, because contact with this somatic component of personality has been
lost. (This loss of contact has been variously described by pre-Celinean observers: It is "the veil of
Maya" in Buddhism, the "censor band" or "repression" in psychoanalysis, the "character armoring"
and "muscular armoring" in Reichian psychology, etc.)
The I Ching hexagram for this stage is Meng, or Youthful Folly. The yang line at the top
indicates the continued supremacy of logogram, even though some biogram elements (the yin lines)
begin to reassert themselves. The traditional reading is "mountain above water"; that is, the rigid
logogram still repressing the Aquarian element as it seeks to liberate itself. The usual Chinese
interpretation of this hexagram is "The young fool needs discipline," and the leaders of all rebellions
at this stage always heartily agree with that and demand unquestioning obedience from their
followers. This is a time of turmoils, troubles, and tyrannies that appear and disappear rapidly.
The mystical number is 11, which means "a new start" in Kabalism and "error and repentence" in
most other systems of numerology.
Tarot trump 21, The Fool, symbolizes this age as a dreamy-eyed youth unknowingly walking over an
abyss. The Hitlerjugend, and the disciples of various other fuehrers and messiahs, immediately come
to mind. That this card is disputed by various Tarot experts, and is given a numerical value of 0
rather than 21 by the wisest, indicates the confusion in all Unordnung periods. The dog who barks to
warn the Young Fool, like the yin lines in the hexagram, represents the desperate attempts of the
biogram ton break through the repression or censor-band and make itself heard.
Typical Cancerians who exemplified Unordnung are Julius Caesar, Mary Baker Eddy (whose
philosophy was an explicit denial of the biogram), Albert Parsons, Emma Goldman, Benjamin Peret,
Vladimir Mayakofski, Henry David Thoreau, Durrutti, P-J Proudhon, Brooks Adams, General
Kitchener, Luigi Pirandello (the literary master of ambiguity), Erich Ambler (the literary master of
conspiracy), Calvin Coolidge (who issued the classically muddled Cancerian statement "Be as
revolutionary as science and as conservative as the multiplication table"), Andrei Gromy-ko, Nelson
Rockefeller, John Calvin, Estes Kefauver, and Rexford Tugwell.
An Unordnung period has always been thought of (even before Hegel provided the words) as a
synthesis between the thesis of Verwirrung and the antithesis Zweitracht; since it is a false synthesis
on the logogrammic level only, it always gives birth to the fourth stage, the Parenthesis.

BEAMTENHERRSCHAFT
This is the age of bureaucracy, and to live at this time is, as Proudhon said, "to have every operation,
every transaction, every movement noted, registered, counted, rated, stamped, measured, numbered,
assessed, licensed, refused, authorized, endorsed, admonished, prevented, reformed, redressed,
corrected ... to be laid under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from,
exhausted, hoaxed, and robbed." The governing I Ching hexagram is 47, K'un, oppression or
exhaustion, the dried-up lake, with the usual reading of superior men oppressed by the inferior. This
is the time when homo neophobe types most rigorously repress homo neophile types, and great
heresy hunts and witch trials flourish. This correlates with the number 8, signifying the Last
Judgment, because every citizen is to some extent a State functionary, and each is on trial before the
jury of all. The traditional Chinese associations with this hexagram are sitting under a bare tree and
wandering through an empty valley— signifying the ecological havoc wreaked by purely abstract
minds working upon the organic web of nature.
The 16th Tarot trump, The Tower, describes this age.
The Tower is struck by lightning and the inhabitants fall from the windows. (Cf. the Tower of Babel
legend and our recent power failures.) The traditional interpretations of this card suggest pride,
oppression, and bankruptcy.
This correlates with Libra, the mentality which measures and balances all things on an artificial scale
(Maya). Typical Libras who have manifested Beamtenherrschaft characterists are Comte de Saint
Simon, Justice John Marshall, Hans Geiger, Henry Wallace, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kenneth
Galbraith, Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., John Dewey, and Dr. Joyce Brothers.
In Beamtenherrschaft ages there is ceaseless activity, all planned in advance, begun at the scheduled
second, carefully supervised, scrupulously recorded— but inevitably finished late and poorly done.
The burden of omniscience on the ruling class becomes virtually intolerable, and most flee into some
form of schizophrenia or fantasy. Great towers, pyramids, moon shots, and similar marvels are
accomplished at enormous cost while the underpinnings of social solidarity crumble entirely. While
blunders multiply, no responsible individual can ever be found, because all decisions are made by
committees; anyone seeking redress of grievance wanders into endless corridors of paperwork with
no more tangible result than in the Hunting of the Snark. Illuminati historians, of course, describe
these ages as glowingly as Zweitracht epochs, for, although control is in the hands of homo neophobe
types, there is at least a kind of regularity, order, and geometrical precision about everything, and the
"messiness" of the barbaric Verwirrung ages and revolutionary Unordnung ages is absent.
Nevertheless, the burden of omniscience on the rulers steadily escalates, as we have indicated, and
the burden of nescience on the servile class increasingly renders them unfit to serve (more and more
are placed on the dole, shipped to "mental" hospitals, or recruited into whatever is the current analog
of the gladiatorial games), so the Tower eventually falls.

GRUMMET
The age of Grummet begins with an upsurge of magicians, hoaxers, Yippies, Kabouters, shamans,
clowns, and other Eristic forces. The relevant I Ching hexagram is 59, Huan,  , dispersion and
dissolution. The gentle wind above the deep water is the Chinese reading of the image, with
associations of loss of ego, separation from the group, and "going out" in general. Yin lines dominate
all but the top of the hexagram; the forces leading to a new Verwir-rung stage are pushing upward
toward release. This is also called Paralysis by the Illuminati, because, objectively, nothing much is
happening; subjectively, of course, the preparations for the new cycle are working unconsciously.
The mystic number is 5, union of male (3) with female (2) and final resolution of conflict between
Verwirrung and Zweitracht.
The governing Tarot trump is number 6, the Lovers, in which the woman looks upward at the angel
(Eris, the bio-gram) and the man looks at the woman (the logogram, yang, reaches synthesis with
biogram, yin, only through reconciliation with the female). Hence, the upsurge of feminism in such
periods, together with a renewed emphasis on clans, tribes, and communes.
Typical Virgos manifesting Grummet traits are Charlie Parker, Antonin Artaud, Louis Lingg, Edgar
Rice Burroughs, Grandma Moses, Lodovico Ariosto, Greta Garbo, Hedy Lamarr, and Goethe and
Tolstoy (who manifested strong yin values while never quite getting reconciled with the women in
their own lives. Tolstoy, however, as the classic dropout, is an archetypal Grummet persona and
almost completed the Sufi course of "quit this world, quit the next world, quit quitting!").
After Grummet, of course, authority has collapsed entirely, and the biogram stands on equal footing
with the logogram. Hodge and Podge being once again in dynamic balance, a new Verwirrung period
begins, and the cycle repeats.
Since Weishaupt dreamed this schema up while he was under the influence of several hallucinogenic
drugs, one should regard it with some skepticism. It is certainly not true in every detail, and there is
no theoretical or empirical demonstration that each of the five ages must always have 73
permutations. The fact that Grummet-Virgo personalities (and all other of the five personality types)
are born in all ages, even if they come to dominance in their appropriate epochs, leaves many
mysteries still unsolved. In short, all that a sober scholar can say of the Illuminati theory of history is
that it makes at least as much sense as the exoteric Marx-Hegel, Spengler, Toynbee, and Sorokin
theories.

The A.A., who regard all Illuminati theories as false projections onto the external world of inner
spiritual processes, are particularly skeptical about this one, since it involves several false
correlations between the I Ching and the Tarot, the Zodiac, etc.
Finally, it should be noted that of all the people Hagbard employed as resonance for the vibes used
against the Saure family in Ingolstadt, only Lady Velkor, Danny Pricefixer, and George Dorn were
not Virgos. Hagbard evidently believed that the Illuminati magical links work when Illuminati
activities are occurring in a given area—and, hence, virtually all of "his" people at the festival were
Virgos and thereby linked with the Grummet/Huan-59/Trump 6 chain of astrological associations.
On the other hand, the presence of three non-Virgos shows Hagbard's pragmatic approach and his
refusal to be ruled even by so exact a science as astrology.*

Illuminatus! Excerpt: A dictatorship that would last forever.

A dictatorship that would last forever.

"Who did you say was looting this temple?" he asked Hagbard.
"The Illuminati. The real force behind all communist and fascist movements. Whether you're aware of it or not, they're also already in control of the United States government."
"I thought everybody in your crowd was a right-winger—"
"And I told you spacial metaphors are inadequate in discussing politics today," Hagbard interrupted.
"Well, you sound like a gang of right-wingers. Up until the last minute, all I've heard from you and your people was that the Illuminati were commies, or were behind the commies. Now you say they're behind fascism and behind the current government in Washington, too."
Hagbard laughed. "We came on like right-wing paranoids, at first, to see how you'd react. It was a test."
"And?"
"You passed. You didn't believe us— that was obvious— but you kept your eyes and ears open and were willing to listen. If you were a right-winger, we would have done our pro-communist rap. The idea is to find out if a new man or woman will listen, really listen, or just shut their minds at the first really shocking idea."
"I'm listening, but not uncritically. For instance, if the Illuminati control America already, what's the purpose of the assassinations?"
"Their grip on Washington is still pretty precarious. They've been able to socialize the economy. But if they showed their hand now and went totalitarian all the way, there would be a revolution. Middle-readers would rise up with right-wingers, and left-libertarians, and the Illuminati aren't powerful enough to withstand that kind of massive revolution. But they can rule by fraud, and by fraud eventually acquire access to the tools they need to finish the job of killing off the Constitution."
"What sort of tools?"

"More stringent security measures. Universal electronic surveillance. No-knock laws. Stop and frisk laws. Government inspection of first-class mail. Automatic fingerprinting, photographing, blood tests, and urinalysis of any person arrested before he is charged with a crime. A law making it unlawful to resist even unlawful arrest. Laws establishing detention camps for potential subversives.
Gun control laws. Restrictions on travel. The assassinations, you see, establish the need for such laws in the public mind. Instead of realizing that there is a conspiracy, conducted by a handful of men, the people reason— or are manipulated into reasoning— that the entire populace must have its freedom restricted in order to protect the leaders. The people agree that they themselves can't be trusted. Targets for assassination will be mavericks of left or right who are either not part of the Illuminati conspiracy or have been marked as unreliable. The Kennedy brothers and Martin Luther King, for example, were capable of mobilizing a somewhat libertarian left-right-black-white populist movement. But the assassinations that have occurred so far are nothing compared to what will take place. The next wave will be carried out by the Mafia, who will be paid in Illuminati gold."
"Not Moscow gold," said George with a smile.

"The puppets in the Kremlin have no idea that they and the puppets in the White House are working for the same people. The Illuminati control all sorts of organizations and national governments without any of them being aware that others are also controlled. Each group thinks it is competing with the others, while actually each is playing its part in the Illuminati plan. Even the Morituri— the six-person affinity groups which splintered from the SDS Weathermen, because the Weathermen seemed too cautious— are under the control of the Illuminati. They think they're working to bring down the government, but actually they are strengthening its hand. The Black Panthers are also infiltrated. Everything is infiltrated. At present rate, within the next few years the Illuminati will have the American people under tighter surveillance than Hitler had the Germans. And the beauty of it is, the majority of the Americans will have been so frightened by Illuminati-backed terrorist incidents that they will beg to be controlled as a masochist begs for the whip."
George shrugged. Hagbard sounded like a typical paranoid, but there was this submarine and the strange events of the past few days. "So the Illuminati are conspiring to tyrannize the world, is that it? Do you trace them back to the First International?"

"No. They're what happened when the Enlightenment of the eighteenth century collided with German mysticism. The correct name for the organization is Ancient Illuminated Seers of Bavaria. According to their own traditions they were founded or revived in seventeen seventy-six on May first by a man named Adam Weishaupt. Weishaupt was an unfrocked Jesuit and a Mason. He taught that religions and national governments had to be overthrown and the world ruled by an elite of scientifically-minded materialistic atheists, to be held in trust for the masses of mankind who would eventually rule themselves when enlightenment became universal. But this was only Weishaupt's 'Outer Doctrine.' There was also an 'Inner Doctrine,' which was that power is an end in itself, and that Weishaupt and his closest followers would make use of the new knowledge being developed by scientists and engineers to seize control of the world. Back in seventeen seventy-six, things were run largely by the Church and the feudal nobility, with the capitalists slowly getting a bigger and bigger piece of the pie. Weishaupt declared that these groups were obsolete, and it was time for an elite with a monopoly on scientific and technological knowledge to seize power. Instead of eventually producing a democratic society, as the 'Outer Doctrine' promised, the Ancient Illuminated Seers of Bavaria would saddle mankind with a dictatorship that would last forever."

Lon Milo DuQuette - The Key to Solomon's Key

No it's really a book by Lon Milo DuQuette this time!

Sketching out a fascinating network of historic figures, cults, and Christendom, this book by an occult studies expert and respected authority on magic and sorcery takes western spiritual traditions seriously—but examines them with common sense and self-effacing humor. Working backward from the Freemasons to one of their original orders, the 14th-century Knights Templar, the account considers sorcery, heresy, and intrigues; explores the legend that the Knights possessed a powerful secret dangerous to the Church of Rome; and finds an essential clue to the order's practices in their connection to the biblical Solomon, king of Israel in the 10th century B. C.

Started reading this today then was surprised to notice I was already over 100 pages in and passed halfway! Fascinating book about the Knights Templar, freemasonry, biblical history, magick and all that other good stuff!

Ex Nihil Omnis Est

Belief and Faith is an absolute pre-requisite in all matters connected with the Mysteries. We are definitely and clearly told to 'Believe first'. For those who say: "I cannot believe in anything", the rather odd counsel is to believe firmly and positively in NOTHING as an Absolute, and out of This will eventually emerge Everything. Ex Nihil Omnis Est.

A useful formula in connection with Faith is the well-known "Ohms Law"

Amount = Pressure / Resistance

This shows in the simplest ways the relative factors concerned. The obtain a given amount of faith we must either increase pressure, decrease resistance, or both. It might appear that resistance should be removed altogether, but this would be highly unwise. A proportion of resistance is strictly necessary in order to maintain balance. We are all too familiar with what happens in the case of those who believe unrestrictedly and indiscriminately in anything. Fanaticism, insanity, and all kinds of stupidities arise from blind credulity and unreasoning enthusiasms coming from usually sincere but quite unjustified faith. Belief must always be qualified by discrimination in order to obtain good results. Another way of expressing the formula is

I will / I won't = I might

In other words what might happen is the outcome of Will over Won't.

So while Faith is a vital necessity, it must be effectively controlled with Wisdom if it is to be a practical proposition in working the Mysteries well. The position may be crudely but soundly summed up in the ale-house adage: "In God we trust - All others, cash!" We can only afford unreserved, complete and unresisting Faith in the Supreme Spirit Itself.

...

In Mystery practice, Initiates are taught to use belief with discrimination. This means specification of faith in order to direct energies along appropriate paths. The principle is to use a formulary such as: "I believe all Energy is One, but for such and such a purpose the Divine Aspect of So and So operates through this type of Archangel, that sort of Angel, and this particular kind of Spirit." Then an attitude of faith is adpoted towards these beings as intermediaries of Divine Energy on their respective levels of Consciousness, and an individual Adaptation made to them by means of whatever prayer or practice the Initiate may be capable of. Blind belief is not encouraged in the Mysteries of Light except in the Origin of Light, Life, and Love from whence all Energy emanates.
No intelligent Initiate believes that Angels or Spirits of any species are winged people in nightgowns flitting around Inner Space. However their Telesmic Images are shaped as Symbols, they themselves are Active Agencies of Awareness, or catigorical concentrations of Divine Consciousness, each existing for some particular purpose in the Plan of Perfection.

William Henry interview - Lost Symbols

Investigative mythologist and author William Henry talked about the significance of the art and symbols in the U.S. Capitol. The Capitol was thought of as a recreation of Solomon's Temple by its builders, Freemasons, who conceived of the building as a "beehive" buzzing with energy, he said. Higher wisdom flows through the Capitol's spiritual imagery, particularly in the painting, The Apotheosis of Washington (see images below), which is featured in the dome of the Rotunda, he shared, adding that the dome of the Capitol is a mirror image of the one in the Vatican. The painting depicts the first President as a deified being along with five pagan gods who are symbols for alchemy. He noted that a scene in Dan Brown's new bestseller, The Lost Symbol, features a character staring up into the Capitol dome and seeing the painting transform into a gateway. This imagery shares similarities to Henry's work into stargates or portals, which he believes humans can ascend to higher consciousness. The bell-shaped Capitol Dome could be thought of as a kind of stupa that creates a vortex or field of energy, he continued. Interestingly, Henry detailed that the Capitol contains a "crypt", one story beneath the Rotunda. It has 40 columns and was modeled after the ancient Temple of Poseidon-- this was a way for the United States to pay homage to Atlantis, he commented.
