Just a heads up that I'll be silent but will be back, RSI is not improving just getting worse it seems so going back to the doc on monday. In the meantime everyone can watch Neon Genesis Evangelion (Neo On Gene(s) Sis Eva Angel Lion Ion), which ends in a 2 episode Zen Mindfuck of epic proportions that kicked me harder than any Alan Watts lecture could. Going to bed, I was thinking "I wish I woke up sooner, again" in a double meaning, spiritually and literally as my biorhythm had me going to bed at 4 at night and waking up way too late. Got called out of bed this morning at exactly 11.11, thanks universe for the confirmation! Don't know where Dedroidify is heading but I confess I'm surrendering to a spiritual symbolic worldview that I just can't seem to keep ignoring to have a fulfilled life.


I found out just now that the creator of the series says there is no meaning in it. That's funny because that's what people often are trying to convince me about life and I disagree on both counts. Here are the themes from the wiki page. I also think it's awesome that he doesn't tell us what to think but trolls us into finding our own answers as he distances himself from that process, which always comes across better than explaining the supposed meaning of a story. Like people trying to convince you what to believe, I usually disagree with those too! See you all soon.

Tarot and Anime

Shoji Kawamori is a Japanese anime creator, screenwriter and mechanical designer, of the series he has worked on I am nearing the end of Vision of Escaflowne and have started watching his new series Nobunaga the Fool. Both heavily feature the use of Tarot so if you're interested in learning more about the Tarot or just seeing it used in fiction, give these series a try.



The main character Hitomi (meaning: "Pupil (eye)") does tarot readings in the series which have effects on future events, she also uses a pendulum. Every episode begins by showing a tarot card which often has a connection to the story of that episode, sometimes blatantly, sometimes more subtle. (from what I can recognize, I'm still very much a tarot novice). I should add that this is a Shoujo anime which means it's targeted towards a female viewership, which is really noticeable and if it weren't the tarot aspects and the mechs I wouldn't have kept watching.

Only 2 episodes have been released of this anime, it's a bit silly at first in using historical characters alongside mechs but nonetheless really entertaining so far. In the first episode Leonardo Da Vinci introduces himself to Jean D'Arc by saying he works for King Arthur and offers her a Tarot card. She draws the Star and gets an explanation. Apparently they drew up an entire deck, we've seen two so far, the Star and the Lovers and both look amazing.

Do you know any works of fiction that uses the Tarot? Please let me know. Meanwhile I'll listen to David Goddard's audio series again, I should probably find a good book on the tarot too (the one I got with my cards from a dutch author isn't that good.) so I can finally get to know them by heart.

Atlantis (BBC)

Really wanted to dislike this from the start but it grew on me during the first episode. Hey it's Jason, Hercules (King Baratheon!) and Pythagoras. You won't believe it, but Pythagoras has been reduced to "the triangle guy" just like in school! Not getting my hopes up for his character development but you  never know! It's from the BBC so I expected it to be as hard to watch as Merlin (which I did watch, because hey, it's medieval) but here the CGI is actually quite ok and the acting a bit (only slightly) less corny. Oh and Dr. Bashir is in it too!

The Big Jump into a new depth for television

This is a show on Belgian tv now: de grote sprong = the big jump, for an hour they build up to some b-rank flemish celebrity jumping into a pool. Besides the occasional eye candy, they can't be serious right?! :p

Synchromystic Grinning Man (via Twilight Language)

Check out this blogpost at Twilight Language: The Grinning Man Returns, I saw the picture on my Blogger Reading list and while I have no idea what any of this means, just like with most synchromysticism, I just had to post the similarities with an Anime series.

These two pictures are from the recent new anime Shingeki no Kyojin (english title: Attack on Titan), it's about a medieval settlement of humans who'ved to build a city surrounded by 3 huge walls to keep the Titans out who have this stupid grin on their faces. The series is one of the best I've seen so far, it's intense, action-packed, shocking and frightening, and has a great story and characters.

I commented on the post (changed here a bit): Check out some yt vids (here's one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3dtSMw7Uso) from a recent anime series called Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan - it features giants attacking a medieval walled human settlement and most of these giants all have mostly stupid grins on their faces just like in that sketch.

", Neither do I but in the latest episode one of their comrades is revealed to be someone who can apparently turn into one of the giants (and thus an enemy). The protagonist can do this too although we don't understand how yet, and his giant also has a grin on his face mostly. (he's the one carrying the boulder in the video - and the first screenshot.) - "when taken to the limit" when the humans who can turn into giants (only two so far) want to start the transformation, they have to inflict pain on themselves.

Interesting trends in Anime

Huge spoilers so the text is in white in case you want to check these series out (do not read the text of any of 'em if you do.) I'm just tying to certain conspiracy reality tunnels. To be able to read all the text easily just ctrl+a to select and highlight all text.

In Full Metal Alchemist, the government is covertly led by demons who are constructing an actual magick circle around the country digging a huge tunnel to eventually sacrifice the entire population in a magick ritual to gain more power. The main demon rose to power after it misled humans into helping it manifest onto our plane, by also sacrificing an entire nation for it. 

In Claymore, human-demon hybrids are bred to combat demons. When the hybrids inevitably revert to complete demon form, they are slaughtered by their collegues before it happens.

In Berserk, a warlord rising to power sacrifices his entire army including his best friends - after they save him from torture and near-death in a dungeon - to become a demon and demon ruler himself, starting a new demonic age.

In Magi - the Labyrinth of Magick, international affairs are steered by a secret organization subverting governments and influencing the population via magick into slaughtering themselves to gain power. One disguises himself as a banker.

In Naruto Shippuuden, huge demons are used to try and bring about the last war and to finally trap the entire world into an illusion-jutsu to ultimately kill everyone and reboot the world.

In Guilty Crown, the government quarantines and kills a ridiculous amount of people more than necessary, and covers it up completely media, to contain a virus from a meteorite. The people fighting the government are labeled as terrorists.

In Hellsing, an ancient organization and rival of the Vatican keeps the most deadly vampire around to obliterate the vampire and demon threat to humans. The Vatican has its own special weapons and agenda.

In One Piece, the world government wipes out an entire country renowned for its archaeology after they learn too much about the world's true history. The void century is a reference to the dark ages from A.D. 400 to A.D 1000. This period of 600 years showed a period where art was lost, literature was scarce and proof of events happening nonexistant. Like the dark ages, the void century does not bear any evidence of what happened during that period of time.

Alien Encounters - pilot with Whitley Shrieber & Audrey Hewins

I found this on a torrent site but apparently can't find a decent official webpage about it. This page on the Biography Channel's website (here it's called Alien Intent though) has a little summary but the links in the menu on the left are not related to the show.

I love this show so much, it's finally back on the air and I would just love to read the books if only I had the time, I choose to let practical books of consciousness preceed in priority at the moment, and I would prefer not to spoil the tv version!

Wilfred

Wilfred follows a young man named Ryan (Elijah Wood) and his neighbor's dog Wilfred (Jason Gann). At first Ryan is suicidal, attempting to kill himself several times in the first episode. Ryan's female neighbor, Jenna (Fiona Gubelmann), asks him to look after her dog for the day. Ryan is taken aback as he sees Wilfred as an Australian man in a dog suit, while everyone else sees Wilfred as just a dog.

It's a remake of the original Australian show and the Jason Gann who co-created it reprises his role as Wilfred. The second is a clip from the original show. It's pretty awesome how hilarious and deep it gets.
