The Giver

The Giver is a novel written by Lois Lowry. It is set in a future society which is at first presented as a utopian society and gradually appears more and more dystopian. The novel follows a boy named Jonas through the twelfth year of his life. The society has eliminated pain and strife by converting to "Sameness", a plan which has also eradicated emotional depth from their lives. Jonas is selected to inherit the position of "Receiver of Memory," the person who stores all the memories of the time before Sameness, in case they are ever needed to aid in decisions that others lack the experience to make. As Jonas receives the memories from his predecessor — the "Giver" — he discovers how shallow his community's life has become.

Programmed Communication During Experiences with DMT

I'm gonna be posting a lot of scribd (online books) goodies, I love this site! I'll try to post some more books, linked, excerpts and summaries for a while. Check out this 8 page work by Timothy Leary on the early experiments with DMT, one of the most fascinating entheogens out there (in here). "It was alleged to be the nucleur bomb of the psychedelic family." The li'l book also recounts William Burroughs his fascinating, terrifying and hilarious DMT experience.

Alien abductions

Alien abductions

Mostly in bed... wether this is sleep paralysis, a DMT release, right brain activation, lucid dream of some sort, or real extradimensional visitors? What if its all of the above, or none of the above :p. Until the abductees themselves open their BS to psychological and other explanations, and skeptic vs believer researchers get over their BS too, maybe we'll start getting to the truth. Regression isn't really reliable either. This 7 page excerpt from Everything is Under Control (The Conspiracy Encyclopedia) by Robert Anton Wilson has some great info on the subject.

Daily Conspiracy: Extremism

Extremism?

"A person who is fanatic in matters of religion,
and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe,
becomes a person who has no faith at all."
Alan Watts

"The War on Terror Terra, Earth."
Michael Tsarion

"'We don't talk to terrorists', which by the way is a belief system (BS). Basically rich people don't do their own killing, they hire governments to do it. Poor people have to do their own killing, so they get called terrorists. Rich people are just called rich people with governments, now when they say 'we don't negociate with terrorists' that means rich people won't negociate with poor people. That's all that means. But if the poor people keep up their 'terrorism', their 'war' of liberation, whatever, if they keep it up long enough eventually all the rich people will decide we gotta negociate with them, just like the white South Africans decided they had to negociate with Mandela, the British with Gerry Addams, Israel with Arafat. Eventually they do have to negociate with the poor people and this will happen in this country (USA) too. Though this will be last country in the world probably..."

Oliver Sacks - Musicophilia - Amnesia and Music

Oliver Sacks - Musicophilia - Amnesia and Music

I just saw an awesome piece on Oliver Sax the neurologist, on dutch tv. It featured a man struck by lightning in a phone cell suddenly having musical composing ability, a man who grabbed his wife's head cause he mistook it for his hat, and the healing power of music, including alzheimers and amnesia. His book Awakenings about the 1930s Sleeping Sickness epidemic was turned into a movie and he was played by Robin Williams. Check out youtube for more, I can't find much video that's as good as what I saw earlier though.
